Hugo nominations are coming to a close!

Hugo nominations are drawing to a close, and that means it's time to remind people about eligibility and whatnot. Works are eligible if they were published in the calendar year preceding this one (2010). Statistically speaking, you'll probably know if you're eligible to nominate (an vote). For the Hugos, you need to have been a member of Aussiecon IV (WorldCon 2010) or be a member of Renovation (Worldcon 2011) to nominate. You must be an attending or supporting member of Renovation to vote, once the ballot has been decided upon.

My eligible works:

Short stories.

* "Dying With Her Cheer Pants On."
* "Everglades."

Technically, all of "Sparrow Hill Road" is eligible, but I would have to recommend looking at "Good Girls Go To Heaven," "Last Dance With Mary Jane," "Faithfully," or "Thunder Road" if you were considering nominating one of these.

Novels.

* A Local Habitation.
* An Artificial Night.
* Feed (as Mira Grant).

...it's a little scary, seeing my 2010 book publications boiled down to something that streamlined. It's also a little scary realizing that I published three books in 2010. I need a nap.

Best Related Work.

* Chicks Dig Timelords (I was a contributor, along with many others).

I am no longer eligible for the Campbell Award, although I will be in Reno to pass the tiara to the next honored recipient.

To be quite honest, it would be an honor beyond reckoning, and also the scariest thing in the history of ever, if I were nominated for a Hugo award. For anything, really. I'm proud of pretty much everything I did in 2010, including my failure to faint during the Hugo Award Ceremony in Australia. I think Feed may be the most solid stand-alone book I have ever written, so there's that.

Anyway, that's my eligibility. I'll try to have more in this listing next year. And please, if you're eligible, nominate. Not "please nominate me," or "please nominate my friends," just...nominate. That's how we do right by this big, beautiful field of speculative madness.

Just got my couple of Late Eclipses (traded brownies to a friend who "accidentally" bought two). I'm looking forward to reading it.

And you rock.
"copy" not couple. Fuck, need more coffee.
If my book is worth brownies in a barter economy, I am winning at universe.
If I could, I'd nominate you! You are utterly deserving of a Hugo!
Thank you. :)
Could you be eligible for Best Fan Artist?
It's my understanding (from the Best Fan Artist nominee who we hung out with in the Night Kitchen last year) that there are specific guidelines as to what kind of publication the art can be published in before you can get nominated for that.
Yeah, I realize there are guidelines to be met. Acquaintances who were nominated or had won had artwork in fanzines. Didn't know if Seanan didn't qualify or simply wasn't interested in being considered.
I could not; I don't fulfill the requirements, at least not this year.
Perhaps next year. Or not.

Got my nominations in (FEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
I will be in Reno to pass the tiara to the next honored recipient.
Also to shoot a man just to watch him die.

What, it's research.
It is research, and very vital research at that.
Awwww, you have to pass your tiara on, and you were so happy to get it, too. I agree with you about Feed, it ws awesome and it would be a worthy Hugo winner.
I get to keep the plaque! And I'm still Princess of Australia.
I seriously, seriously can not vote for one more thing right now. (Fella is union - we get phone calls asking us ALL KINDS OF THINGS regularly.) Not to mention no chance to get to Reno this year whatsoever. *sigh*

But dumb question - you get to 'tiara' the next Campbell winner, not give the one you have away, right? (They wouldn't...but I've said that before and been dead wrong.)
No, I give the one I have away.
It's a good thing you have lots of other tiaras :-)
. . . I have until the 26th. I thought I had until the 31st.

*sighs* Time to get cracking on wordcounting various things.
At least you know?
I sincerely hope you get nominated for FEED. It was the book that spun me upside-down and planted itself stubbornly on my chest like a demanding cat. I loved it and I cannot wait for DEADLINE.

Best read of 2010.
Thank you. :)
Since Reno's well within reasonable travel distance, we're attending this year. Kay and I sat down and made our nominations this weekend - and yes, some of your work was on our ballots. Here's hoping enough other people think you're that good.
Awwwww.

Thank you.

:)
