In which Seanan becomes a New York Times bestselling author.

Friday night, I was chilling at my computer when an acquaintance of mine congratulated me. On what?, I wondered. A link was provided. I clicked the link. The link took me to the New York Times Best Sellers, which seemed like a bit of a cruel joke, since I would have known if I had made the list. Right? Right?

I scrolled down the list.

Late Eclipses, the fourth October Daye adventure, held the #32 slot.

I stared at it for a few minutes before calling Vixy and asking her to click the link. I didn't tell her why, because let's face it, I wanted to know if she could see it, too. She made inquisitive noises as she scrolled...and then she started shrieking. Okay, so yeah. She could see it.

Lots of screaming and flailing followed, as well as a phone tree that managed to double back on itself about seventeen times. Oxygen was not a priority. The Agent eventually returned my call, and then we spent a lovely half-hour or so going "Oh my God" a lot, which is basically what I was hoping she would do (sometimes, being coherent is for other people). The cats watched all of this with disdain, thus proving that the essential laws of reality had not changed, and eventually, I watched Fringe and went to bed.

I'm a New York Times bestselling author. Me.

I still can't believe I'm not asleep.

Way to go!
Thank you!
This is seriously incredibly scream-worthy! Congratulations!!! :D
I rather thought so. :)
Campbell last year, New York Times bestselling author this year, who knows what lies beyond.

You totally rock!
WORLD CONQUEST.
Wow! Congrats!
Thank you!
CONGRATULATIONS!!
Thank you!
Congratulations! I stayed up until a ridiculous hour finishing it, and got teary-eyed in several spots.

(Team Tybalt ALL THE WAY. ahem.)
Aw, yay.

(You and a bunch of others...)

The only thing I'm surprised about is that it took this long. :)

(or, to put it another way: CONGRATS, YOU TOTALLY DESERVE IT.)
All things come to those who wait!
Congratulations. :) It's well deserved!
Thank you!
WOOT!!!! I'm so happy for you and your books because I think they're awesome and more people should read them.

And this moves them happily in the direction of more people!
This makes me happy. :)
Congratulations!
I got the naked happy icon!

That means I win!
Congratulations!
Thank you!

Hee.

Thanks.
Wow! Congrats!! Making the list is so deserved!
Thank you!
This is the most awesome thing ever. It also adds a huge touch of class to a list that otherwise has one other book I would ever want to read (the latest Dresden Files book).

And BTW, I am LOVING this book. I liked the others very much, but this one is clearly the work of someone who's hit her stride. Never mind that things that bothered me in earlier books are now established to be plot points. Wow.

That's one of the most awesome things about getting this particular volume out; watching people realize that probably 95% of the things that seemed "off" in the first three books were entirely intentional.

Trust the blonde.

As I said on your FB when you announced, SQUEEE!

I didn't go through every response, but in case no one else mentioned it, you pulled this off on a MMPB initial release, not a reprint, so its not a matter of word of mouth or people waiting for a less expensive MMPB version. No, this was people going out to get YOUR BOOK as soon as it was released.

Be proud!

And who knows, with your name out there in the NYT and all, maybe one of the past books will join it!

I am very proud.

Very, very proud.
THAT IS SO VERY AWESOME
OMG I KNOW!!!!
You totally deserve it - I read Late Eclipses in one go, then immediately scoured my dorm room for my copy of Rosemary and Rue to begin an epic reread. Once I realized I left it at home, I started on A Local Habitation and counted down the days until spring break...two days after getting home, my reread is almost complete.

In other words, it is like the best kind of crack.
Oh, wow.

High praise!
...now I know a New York Times Best Selling Author.

You just earned even more of my worship points, Lady.

Someday, my dream is that I want to be just like you. Only maybe without the ponies.

That is so COVERED in AWESOME sauce! I am so happy for you! And I get to be pleased because *I Helped* by buying it! I can be thrilled that the rest of the world is "getting" how awesome you are, too.
You totally helped!

I love you so.
Hurray, how wonderful!:)
Thank you!
YAY! This deserves a snoopy happy dance!
Yaaaaay!
Y'know, I think I pre-dreamed this? I was like "How come Seanan has only just found out, didn't she post about it before?"

Congratulations anyway, and well-deserved. Now hoping Deadline makes it as well, that would be well cool.
That really would.

Let's see if we can do it!
Congratulations! I'm happy to see that the rest of the reading world is becoming aware of what we've known since book 1 - that Seanan is awesome!
Awwww, thank you. :)
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Congratulations! That is completely kickass!

Now that gets to go on books! They should let you put it after your name: Seanan McGuire, NYTB.
Bear says I have a new first name. I like that approach!
w00t! Congratulations!

:pointy dance of NYT bestseller joy:
Glee. :)
