I cannot brain today. I have the tired, and the office cold has decided to hang out in my head, making me slow and lurgy and reluctant to commit to anything more strenuous than sitting around my bedroom, not putting on pants.
So here is a picture of Thomas cuddling with Amberlee the velociraptor, intended to signal that this post is an open thread. Tell me things! Any sort of things you want. Also, I am declaring amnesty from my normal "answer all comments" policy. So I may answer comments on this thread, and I may not. Either way, my psychotically cute kitten will be snuggling with a dinosaur, and that proves that life is AWESOME.
Oh, isn't he gorgeous! (But still not king. Blame Tybalt.)
I've started reading Late Eclipses, only my medication caused me to stop (when my eyes close I can't read, strange that).
I really recommend large doses of Vitamin C and Zinc, and Aspirin if you can take it. And sleep, and lots of liquids (er, those two may not be mutually compatible). And hugs...

Taking large amounts of zinc can actually lower your immune system so it's best to stick to the recommended dosages on the cold-eze. (Assuming you can stand them - to me it's like sucking on a Match-box car.)
This gives you a perfect opportunity to end debates with "I have no idea what you're talking about, so here is a picture of a kitten snuggling with a stuffed velociraptor."
My wife read Late Eclipses in one night whilst I was reading two other books. I just started it today and I'm eager to really get going on it (I got through about four pages when the phone rang). I've just had a wonderful experience reading the latest Mercy Thompson book, and I'm expecting the same from Toby. }:-)
I'm procrastinating on a paper just by being here. I mean, it'll get written, I have no worries about that. I'm just taking time that could be used for constructive things, and using it to make comments here.
I'm soooooo looking forward to Finals week being over. I get a break, and will likely collapse for a bit, then catch up on season 2 of Fringe / my Netflix queue.
The most prominent Thing on my mind right now is that it's eight days to opening night. (The play this time is Neil Simon's "Laughter on the 23rd Floor", loosely based on his experiences writing for Sid Caesar I play Val, the Russian-accented head writer.)
The second most prominent Thing is that three generations of us leave for Orlando three weeks from Saturday.
I have a glowing and enthusiastic Late Eclipses review ready to pair with what I hope will be a glowing and enthusiastic review of Morning Glories (it's off to a good start so far), both with the message of START READING THIS SERIES NOW YOU GUYS.
In other news, it's World Reading Aloud Day, and I am going to a World Reading Aloud Day Party tonight.
My cat is dying. The beautiful silver-blue kitten I found on the streets of Brooklyn has inoperable thyroid cancer and probably a couple more months left before he starts being in the kind of pain you don't let a cat suffer if you're a responsible owner. I'm not in New York, where Michael lives with my mother, and I probably won't ever see him again, but I've issued firm instructions to my mother to put him down when he starts to show significant pain that the vets can't help him with, and in the meantime to pet him lots and lots and tell him over many times how much I love him.
I have another new song gestating. Right now it's just the frame, I can't figure out what it's trying to *say*. And it keeps turning over in my head like a cat trying to get comfortable and I keep finding myself chanting "Oak! And Ash! And Rowan! And Thorn! and breaking into doodle-de-doodle-dees"

I think of it as my Seanan pill.
So when does my hair go blonde and I gain the ability to sing?

Although I've had to take Red Roses and Dead Things off that rotation.
My boss doesn't like it when I sing along with You Get the Tickets.
She says it's "not appropriate".

Sad news is that I was laid off on Friday and the vet bill is >$4K, but that takes a backseat to my joy.
In related news, my laundry is now inaccessible to beings without opposable thumbs.

2) Ouch. :(
3) Very good.
I'm so glad Summerpuppyloveofyourlife is okay. I hope your vet will let you set up a payment plan.
