Tara, who is my good and loving and tolerant friend, and who does all the graphics for my website, is also a Barbie customizer. She takes normal, every day dolls and turns them into geek icons, like NCIS's Abby Sciuto, or damn near EVERY CHARACTER EVER to appear in an episode of Star Trek. I? Think this is awesome. And that, friends and neighbors, is why I asked Tara to make me a Barbie.
An Alice Price-Healy Barbie. Behold:
Alice! She has the head of an Aquamarine Birthstone Beauty, the right arm of a Hard Rock Barbie, and the body of a Harley-Davidson Barbie. Her shirt is an old, old piece of Ken's wardrobe; her tank top is Barbie Basics; and her hot camouflage pants are proof that she's more awesome than your Barbie. Oh, and did we mention the weapons? She has a shotgun, pistols, grenades, knives, smoke bombs, and a 1:6 scale machete. Yes. BARBIE WITH A MACHETE.
Alice knows what you're thinking. Alice doesn't approve.
Very nice. I have several friends who collect Barbies (mostly the princess ones and then they make them into Goth chicks.) However, this is a Barbie I could get behind. But with long Brown hair cuz that's how I roll. :)
That is truly awesome - a Barbie that actually looks like she has an attitude instead of a vapid, winsome vacuous 'face.' Well done, Tara. (And well inspired, Seanan)
I'm actually really glad LJ doesn't have a "like" feature. It sort of bothers me how more and more sites are going to "click a button, rather than bothering to say something."
This is liquid brilliant and makes my geeky heart go rat-a-tat-a-tat!
My fave doll makeover artist was devastated by the New Orleans disaster, but her work is still on display here (check them out!): http://www.oneandonlydolls.com/
Oh, she's just adorable... don't tell her I said that.
I was always a Barbie girl as a child, and I'm starting to pick up a collection again as an adult, so the Alice doll is the coolest thing ever in my eyes.
I already wanted to read these books. But now that I've seen Alice I want to read them more.
Alice would be okay with being called adorable, really. She's not as vicious as people who get between her and her search for her missing husband tend to assume.

I would have played with that Barbie when I was a kid. Well, except for the tattoos, they weren't really very cool back then.
