THERE WILL BE SPOILERS.

Seriously. If anyone comments here at all, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS. So please don't read and then yell at me because you encountered spoilers. You were warned.

You can also start a book discussion at my website forums, with less need to be concerned that I will see everything you say! In case you wanted, you know, discussion free of authorial influence.

I don't think I've seen any speculation in these threads yet about the "he" who Oleander refers to in her encounter with Amandine just after she and Toby return to the Summerlands during Toby's childhood. I'm thinking that's not Oberon, so am I correct in thinking that Amandine was involved with someone else, who we may or may not have already met?
I assumed she was talking about Simon. Amandine did make some sort of reference to Oleander becoming a messenger for the Daoine Sidhe.
Oh, I thought about that, but why would Simon have such a proprietary interest in Amandine? Oleander says that "He sent me. Someone thought he should know that you've come home again, and now he's wondering after your welfare."

To me, that reads as former/spurned lover, and as far as I know, Simon and Amandine weren't involved in that way (at least, not to Toby's knowledge).
I don't know what her relationship with Simon was, I'm assuming there was one since Amandine is around the same age as Sylvester. They at least knew each other.

I don't know, I just have this feeling that Simon has bigger plans than anything we've seen. Why shouldn't the daughter of a first born figure into those plans?
Oh, very true, and I don't mean to sound as though I'm dismissing the fact that it could be Simon. I'm just intrigued about the possibility of finding out more, or rather, of Toby finding out more.
I want to know more now too, my brain just likes to fill in the blanks with what I've been told. Nine times out of ten I'm wrong, but I fidget around the unknown.
When Oleander's dying she says something about Amandine having stolen him from her. I think "he" there is also Simon, and that, yes, Amandine and Simon were involved for a time.

I wonder if Amandine had any other children, and if so, whether and how those children died...
Didn't the Luidaeg already confirm that Toby has brothers and sisters? So they're not necessarily dead.
