LATE ECLIPSES open thread. Have a party.

To celebrate the release of Late Eclipses [Amazon]|[Mysterious Galaxy], here. Have an open thread to discuss the book.

THERE WILL BE SPOILERS.

Seriously. If anyone comments here at all, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS. So please don't read and then yell at me because you encountered spoilers. You were warned.

You can also start a book discussion at my website forums, with less need to be concerned that I will see everything you say! In case you wanted, you know, discussion free of authorial influence.

Have fun!

The first thing I did when I finished the book was look up dóchas in an Irish dictionary. I got "hope, expectation." The hope of the Sidhe is ... death? rebirth? reinvention? Either way, I'm really, totally fascinated by the Dóchas Sidhe, and intrigued to see what their role might be in Faerie.

Also, Team Tybalt. (And I'm pleased that Toby is finally going to have the opportunity to choose openly between Tybalt and Connor!)
Or, y'know, not choose? Polyamoury, and/or finding someone else to date, for the win? :-)
...dude, Tybalt would EAT Connor if Toby tried that.
That mental image shouldn't be anywhere near this funny...
Which, it occurred to me, is why I'd rather see Toby with Tybalt. Tybalt would be a partner in every sense of the word, while poor Connor really just reminds me of Bow from She-Ra. Cute, but a little too thick and a little too helpless. Quentin could take him... out of the water, anyway.
That's actually something I'm hoping to see in the next book - Connor in his element. He's pretty literally a fish out of water in Shadowed Hills, and I HOPE he's notably more capable in a context which fits him properly.
I'm definitely holding off on judging Connor until we see him in his element,. But of course even if he totally rocks there Tybalt can rock where Toby can, and that's more convenient. Very much curious about saltation sea. I haven't read the teaser yet, but I'll probably give in well before the book comes out.
One Salt Sea, this is what happens when I'm pulling names out of memory...
Bwahahahaha.

Yes.

One reason I think Tybalt is a better match for Toby. Connor is sweet...but unless he's got depths we haven't seen (entirely possible, and if so I'm guessing we might see 'em in One Salt Sea given his nature and its title), he's no real match for Toby - even BEFORE the events of Late Eclipses he might not have been, and now? Yeah, no.
