3 reasons to buy my books.

Ah, Saturday. A day for sweet relaxation. A day when the working author can at least pretend to get caught up on all her word counts. And, well. A day that marks Late Eclipses [Amazon]|[Mysterious Galaxy] being exactly three days from release. (Yes, I know, some stores have it out early. This doesn't make me a happy bunny, so please stop telling me about it. OCD means never coping well when people change your math.)

Some people have asked me why, exactly, they should spend their hard-earned dollars on my books, rather than on all the other lovely things they could be spending their dollars on. So I am here to present you with three excellent reasons why you should buy my books. Take two. They're small.

Buy my books so I can continue to feed the furry monsters that sleep with their many, many sharp kitten-teeth only inches from my tender flesh. (That's Lilly, Alice, and Thomas, in order. It's actually an older picture of Alice, but she was so damn cute that I couldn't resist.)

Awww, what sweethearts. I plan to pick it up the first day it is out, to keep the terrible cat monsters from eating you. A friend of mine and I spent a significant portion of last night squeeing at each other about how it was going to be out SUPER-SOON OMG YAY.

Seriously, man, I repeat: put a saddle on that cat and ride him into the sunset. He's GIGANTIC and he's still a BABY as 'coons go. You're going to need to start feeding him from a trough like a horse.

(my Mom's checkbook cover, btw, reads: "Cat Food Fund")

There is a very good reason number four, that being that the books just keep getting better, and one would miss out on the awesome if one were to not buy it. But there are three days left, not four, so it makes sense you left it off.

Reason #4: The books are full of awesome and win so anyone who doesn't read them is missing out.

Reason #5: You're a terrific writer and these books are the gateway to your other work.

Reason #6: You are a genius-tastic hottie who needs to sleep some time, so you can write more books.

Just so you know, reading about your amazing cats has convinced me that I will someday* go to a breeder and take home at least one, maybe a pair, of Maine Coon kittens of my very own. They're lovely.

*There's an unfortunate fish-only rule at my school, and I already have two lovely cats at home. I graduate in two years. How long will it take me to bring home pets? Probably not long...

Also, I will look into buying your book after this week is over. No way can I buy a book right now, when I have midterms and papers this week. But your cats are definitely convincing reasons to buy. ;)

Maine Coons are amazing. They're high-maintenance compared to shorthairs, and you have to brush them often so they stay used to it, but wow are they worth the effort.

Aww, I love the kitties. So fluffy!
(my aunt has a cat that I believe to be part Maine Coon. However, from looking at these pictures, I know she has to be only part Main Coon, because she is SMALL.)

A release date which charmingly coincides with Kent's first paycheck from the hospital And, wow...we have to walk past Flyleaf (our indie bookstore which, sadistically, the universe placed a block and a half from the house) on the way home from the bank...

P.S. When I did video movie rentals we were told a trillion times 'No renting/selling before street date'. It was huge. If I were you I'd ask WTH to my publishing peeps about the reports of the books being sold early.

I'm sorry, but Alice and Thomas hardly qualify as Small.

But all three cats are adorable, lovely and definitely worth feeding. I not only buy the books, I addicted the daughter. The grandson found Feed on his own, he loves zombies. ;)
