Last night I dreamt that I had somehow become involved with a television show based on the old Gammarauders RPG, and that jimhines had been hired to write the novelizations of said show. He wrote a whole book focusing on one of the characters I'd introduced to the show, a sort of candy-cane punk rock girl who drove a giant air-breathing octopus (it made sense in context). I, of course, read the whole book, because I am me.
I was having a discussion with Alan at Borderlands about how I felt about the whole thing after I finished it. "Did you like it?" he asked.
"I did," I said. "I hope it sells lots and lots of copies and makes lots and lots of money."
"Is she really supposed to be the missing princess of Thatllbetheday?"
"Actually, yes. See, there's this note at the crypt of Buddy Holly, and..."
...and then I woke up, before I found out what the note said. But wow, is my subconscious weird sometimes.
I recently had a recursive dream about Toby Daye. Unfortunately, by the time I woke up for real, I couldn't remember what she was doing, except that I have a vague idea she was doing it in someone else's ficton.
I dreamed I was at the British filkcon talking to someone who was a hybrid of the_gwenzilliad and cflute which was very odd, particularly when I woke up and realized it.
And, as an old school rock and roll fan, I have to approve of any dream that utilizes the tomb of Buddy Holly as a location. Damn, now I have that Dixie Chicks song in my head.
I've been meaning to ask, since you know all things zombie-related, and you used to play rpgs (I don't know if you still have the time), I was wondering if you'd seen Eden Studios "All Flesh Must Be Eaten" gaming stuff. You probably have already, but they're beautiful, scary books if you haven't. It just seems like a natural fit for you to enjoy. Even if you don't game anymore, they'e fun reading.
I do admit gaming books are my most expensive reading, short of the ridiculously expensive law books I must have for work. Sigh. I collect more books than I'll probably ever play. :)
Cool! I'm reading "All Tomorrow's Zombies" by Eden Studios to help me bring a zombie apocalypse to a Whedonverse Serenity campaign. It's a little out of genre, but not really - I brought Resident Evil's Umbrella corporation into the Verse. Scientific zombies!
On a slight tangent, do you know the new version of Ruse is coming out by Marvel Comics? I remember you used to read it when it was at the other company. Request: post comic book recommendations again. :)
GODDAMIT. I'd totally read a Jim Hines book involving a punk rock girl driving a giant air-breathing octopus. I swear I'm one of twelve people to have read and kept the entire Gammarauder comic book series from when DC held the TSR license.
Let's see. First, we need to get the Gammarauder license. Then we need to blackmail Jim.

I found that last clause a bit jarring. It never occurred to that a candy-cane punk rock girl driving a giant air-breathing octopus didn't make sense.
When I have weird dreams (which is six nights in seventh, and I'm betting the seventh is so odd that my ever-loving subconscious blots it out for my mental health), I usually don't want them finished. So maybe, if the glass is half full, you really, really didn't want to know what the note said.

Hm. Maybe I should dig the game out for the next board gaming session I go to.

Awesome.
