Bits, pieces, and administravia.

So wow. February is more than halfway over, and I'm trying to clean everything up on my end of things, in the hopes that doing so will enable me to, you know, accomplish something for a change. Because I've just been sitting around doing nothing up until now. So...

1. All the damaged Wicked Girls CDs have been claimed, although some are still pending payment. It's highly unlikely that any more damaged CDs will show up; Mom and I have checked the boxes thoroughly at this point, and it looks like the unpleasant surprises are over. Thank the Great Pumpkin.

2. I am mailing the last of the paid-for "Wicked Girls" posters tomorrow. This means that, if you are waiting for a poster, you should have it in approximately a week (all the posters being mailed are going to US addresses). If you have requested a poster but not yet paid for it, you have ten days before I delete your name from the list, and release any held numbers back into the wild. If you're not sure whether you've paid or not, you can always contact me.

3. I'm going to be setting up my final pre-release giveaways over the next week or so. Finances are forcing me to restrict them to US addresses/international addresses only if you're willing to pay for postage. I'm really sorry about that. It's just that it costs me approximately three dollars to mail a book inside the US, and outside gets very spendy, very fast. Specific rules to come.

4. I'll doubtless be saying more about this later, but as we're getting into the period where people start getting excited about Deadline: I do not have ARCs. I am not going to have ARCs. Please don't ask me for them, please don't comment on other giveaway posts saying you'd take an ARC of Deadline instead of the stated prize, just please, please, don't. There are no ARCs of this book. I'm not holding out on you, I just don't got the goods.

...and that's our administrative junk for the night. Join me next week, when "administrative junk" will probably include port and drunkenly yelling at my rambunctious kitten.

I think of books that don't have ARCs made as books/series that have hit the big time. Congrats!
Thanks. :)
No ARCs of Deadline? How come? I'm just curious.
Just noticed you were listening to Dar when you posted this. Dar totally rocks. I got to see her live about ten years ago. Good times!
Hee. I saw her at the beginning of December. She's awesome, isn't she?

Publisher decision. I have no sway.

They are, sort of. They're usually used to garner early reviews and build buzz.
I wanted to pass this on to you:

I recently read "Feed" even though I'm not in to the whole zombie thing (and loved it, btw). I got my husband to read it next (he also liked it). The other day we were watching the news and a story came up, "Curing the Common Cold." He looks at me and says, "well, we know how this will end up... zombies." :)
...

This delights me.
Ooh, I'm guilty of never responding to the email after requesting a poster. I, um, it was the start of the semester, and textbooks get expensive. Will respond today! Thanks for the reminder.
No problem!
Rambunctious kitten? Looks like we last saw a picture of Thomas back in Dec. (hint! hint! :) ) and that was "a few weeks old" at the time it was posted. Can a kitten still be a kitten if it's bigger than Oregon? Should we start blaming any California earth tremors on your Maine Coons? :)
Every time I'm asked for pictures, after explaining why there aren't any, I delay the posting of pictures by a week. Just FYI. It's a very manual process, and I still haven't finished preparing the pictures from Australia.
If there aren't going to be ARCs of Deadline, that must mean Feed is doing so well that Deadline doesn't need the buzz, right?

I'll be happy to read it when it's out -- and if this means that Feed did so well that it doesn't need the buzz, congrats!
Thanks!
The girls and I listen to Wicked Girls in the car. A lot. We sing along. Even the almost 3 year old. I have a quote from the title track on my cube wall... And the squee when I realized the insert was signed since I preordered? Truly frightening. Now I must procure your other CDs.

(after Monday's paycheck hits :-P)

Oh, and yes, we are continuing to thrust copies of your books upon friends and relatives. And getting them hooked *evil grin*

When Cora got her eyes dilated at the ophthalmologist, when we went outside she commented "Now I feel like Georgia." I love my geeklings...

BTW, I sent you a message through your website contact, but can't remember if it's one of the more or less reliable methods of reaching you. While looking up information on polio because of a random question from a coworker, I saw that one of the famous people listed as having had polio is Rosemary Rue (Dame Rosemary Rue), the last person in Oxford to contract it. She was a prominent physician. Thought you'd be amused if you weren't already aware.
I saw that! The existence of Rosemary Rue delights me.
No Arcs of Deadline? Yay! That means when I read it I'm going to be like everyone else and reading it for the first time.
Yay!

I haven't paid for my poster yet, but I never received an email.

ETA: Found the post where I commented for one; my comment is there and my email address is right, so I guess I may have been skipped by accident? :/
How odd. :( What's your email again? I'm sorry!
trialia@gmail.com - thank you :)
