A few quick administrative notes.

Note the first:

I automatically friend back anyone who friends this journal, because it seems the polite thing to do. However, as noted in my user information, I don't have time to read everyone who friends this journal. I might have been better off going with a "don't friend anyone, ever" policy, I don't know, but I didn't, and it's too late now. So if you've posted something and you wanted me to see it, you need to tell me directly, rather than just assuming I'll come across it on my own. Being shirty with me because I haven't seen it will just get you looked at blankly. I do a very good blank look.

Note the second:

Yes, Wicked Girls has arrived at my house, and yes, I have started mailing them. That being said, there are 300 to be mailed, and there's only one of me. I've managed to get one batch packed and to the post office, with another batch ready to go out today...leaving only 220 in the database to be dealt with. Asking me where your CD is will only make me cry. You should receive an email when your order is officially ready to go to the post office, and it will be sent within twenty-four hours (or so) of that email being sent. If you really, really need to update your address information, you should mail me yesterday, and be prepared for bribery.

Note the third:

Yes, I am still mailing "Wicked Girls" posters, although I can only carry a very limited number to the post office each day. At present, all but six paid orders have been mailed, and I have eight more orders pending unpaid. If you have a question about your order, please feel free to contact me. When I say "please send your shipping information to this address as a reply to this message," I mean it; don't include it in your PayPal receipt. Shipping information in a PayPal receipt will not be seen or captured.

And that's the administravia for today.

Maybe it is me. I know that I have a very strange view of the world at large. I am thrilled when the authors I find on here friend me back, esspecially if they are ones I regularly read. And yes, when you friended me back I danced a jig. But I really dont expect the authors to read my posts, because here is the reality, many of them have hundreds of friends. And I am sure that they have filters that show them only their 'real world friends and family' and those post they read. Anything else is going to slip thru the cracks. I know that when I read here it can take up to 15 or 20 minutes to get back to the last post I know I read from my previous time on, and that is just cause of my communities, feeds and the like. So maybe people need to realize authors are real people with real lifes, and deserve to be respected for sharing part of their lifes with us. So instead of these people being angry they need to say to you "Thank you"

And since most likely they wont.... I will

THANK YOU for sharing your thoughts, experiences and life with us.
Thank you. Very much. :)
I just wanted to send you hugs, and tell you that there are a ridiculous number of us who remember that you are only one person (except when you are Mira). The amount of work you do is staggering, and your dedication to friends and strangers alike does not go unnoticed.

In short, the people who get shirty with you are either extremely misinformed, or just plain mean.

*hugs you, and wishes you a day full of street-pennies and kitty snuggles*
I saw a pug at lunch! It's a pretty good day.
Send the shirty people to me. The Land of Poison and Flame will sort them out right smart!
Oooooooo.

You foul temptress, you.

Seanan,

Hi! I'm new to the East Bay area, but if you could use an extra set of hands, I'd be happy to help. You could take it as a bit of a thank you for introducing me to the area through your books.

Sam

Thank you so much! I think more hands would be a bad thing, at this point, since we're mostly having database issues, but don't think I won't keep you in mind!
I wanted to tell you that I received An Artificial Night for Christmas and that I enjoyed it very much. I really love the Toby books. :)
Fantastic!
Give people this highly realistic choice:

"Either I spend all my time reading LiveJournal and commenting on the hum-drum day to day grind of your life, or I produce the books that probably made you friend me in the first place."

'Cause dude, I don't have that many LJ friends and they could suck up all my time if I let them. And I don't *have that many* since I mostly use LJ as a platform for interacting author blogs (like your good self), book reviews, and keeping up with a very few friends who have not defected wholly to Teh Face-Bok.

You answer most of your comments. That's pretty attentive!
I love you right now.
I got the e-mail that claims mine has been sent. I will patiently await for its arrival. At least it is somewhere in the loop and will get to me eventually.
*hugs* to the busy Blonde, who is very busy.
Don't forget to snuggle with the cats, for they will purr and calm you down.

I like the post office. I like that they tolerate me coming in with whopping great bags of crap, and asking them to take it away.
I still kinda think of authors as being these otherworldly creatures who don't have time to bother with the lives of mere mortals, so I can't imagine getting annoyed about you not reading my incredibly mundane LJ entries. I'm still ridiculously excited that you reply to my comments!

But seriously, you're supposed to read and reply to everyone's LJs, package and post 300+ CDs all at once, and actually, y'know, write books? Wtf, people?!
It's already suspected that she doesn't sleep; if she tries to cram anything more into her day, I think she might warp space-time, causing the universe to collapse into itself.

I think that would be bad.

I think it's remarkable that you go so far as to friend everyone who friends you, my goodness! (I don't even do that because I neither filter nor lock.)
I try never to post anything here that needs to be filtered or locked, unless it's a contest for people who follow my blog. (Haven't done it yet, have considered it a few times.)

I received the CD today! Listening to it right now. Loving it. It's amazing.

Side note: If you haven't noticed it already, there's a typo on the songlist on the back, where you wrote "CarViNal Glass." Although I doubt there's anything you can do about it at this point.
...no, there's nothing I can do about it, and I had managed not to notice it until JUST NOW. Now I can't un-see it. :(

Mine arrived today. Thanks so much!
Yay!
Seanan, that's rough, sorry you have to deal with that kind of thing. And you being a published author makes it worse.

I've run into my share of people without a clue. And learned long ago to take a deep breath and be happy for me, not for other people. I only friend (blogs, Twitter, no FB) serious writers, crit partners, or people I know. Makes life stress free. Please consider taking a deep breath and no more auto friending!
I think that ceasing the auto-friending would come with a whole new can of worms, since part of the point was avoiding the impression of exclusionary "oh, these are my FRIENDS, you're NOT." I'd have to unfriend everyone! So I probably shan't, but shall just look a little tired.
Eagerly awaiting the CD--which I'm certain I'll love--and thanks so much for your effort!
Very welcome!

I might have been better off going with a "don't friend anyone, ever" policy, I don't know, but I didn't, and it's too late now.

I need to state this in my user info, but I've been doing the same thing. Friending anyone who asks, but definitely not able to keep up with entries. That said, I used to have the "don't friend anyone EVER" policy, and that simply didn't work.
Yeah, that was about what I figured. It's a very unfriendly-looking policy, in addition to being unsustainable.
*gets shirty with you by threatening to pull up your shirt* Authors Gone Wild! ;)

No, not really.
Eeek!

Hee.
You rock like a rocking thing.

Our CDs came today!
Yay!
My CD will arrive in the fullness of time. That's good enough for me.

People who expect more of you are evidently not properly grateful for all the wonders that you provide. Fie on them, says I.
Thank you, darlin'.
So glad to hear the status of the cd mailing. Very eagerly awaiting my copy (which I know will come in due time). Thank You! Have a great New Year!
You, too!
I count myself lucky that my copy of Wicked Girls has arrived. I squeed like a squeeing thing.

And I gave my aunt all three currently-available Toby books plus Feed for Christmas. What was cool about that was that she said oh, yes, one of her daughters (who works in computer gaming) had already said they'd heard the Toby books were good and she'd meant to check them out.... Which made me smile.

Thank you for rocking. 'Cause you do.
Thank you for spreading the love! My cats also thank you. They like eating.
Heeeeeeee. I got my email yesterday, so judging by the current state of the Royal Mail, the CD should get here within the next two weeks. YAY! *bounces happily* Also, I got epic amounts (read: £50) of bookstore gift vouchers for Christmas, so my next-thing-snagged will be An Artificial Night! *grin of slightly-stoned-happy-fangirl*
Brilliant!

I would be delighted to friend you, and awed if you friended me. (Seriously.) But of all the blazing superconstellation of high-IQ stars in your sky, y' know what pushed the 'do it' button?

Pandemic flu. I liked you immediately.

So now, you see, I must friend you, because otherwise you'll see none of the appropriate entries.

In the fall, the disease returned - a relentless killer”

Think Green!”

Pandemic flu is awesome.

Awesome awesome awesome.

Except when you have it, mind. Then it sucks. Although if I had to die of flu, being the human index for H9N5 would be okay.

YAY!
I returned from a trip to Guatemala and found Wicked Girls waiting for me. IMHO, it is your best yet!
Well done, and have you started the next one yet? (ducks and runs)
...no.
Starting the business year the right way by receiving Wicked Girls in the mail today. Sounding pretty sweet so far. My wife is already trying to steal the physical disc from me.
Yay!
