Happy second birthday to my puffy girl.

Today is Alice Price-Healy Little Liddel Abernathy McGuire's second birthday. As of today, she can't be considered a kitten by even the most generous of standards, and must, at last, be afforded the sacred title of "cat." This does not prevent her sleeping on her back for hours with her soft white belly exposed. Nor does it cause her to develop an ounce of dignity. But it does make her wonderful.

I love all three of my cats, and I try not to play favorites. Right now, however, Alice is definitely my favorite, simply by virtue of not being dead. It's hard to express in words just how badly she frightened me when she got sick. Now, finally, she's shiny and grooming herself and talking to me in audible registers, rather than just making this heart-breaking rasping sound. She's better. I'm still going to keep a close eye on her throughout the winter, because this isn't sort of thing you forget quickly, but she's better. And right now, that makes her my favorite.

To celebrate Alice's birthday, she's getting a thorough grooming, possibly including claw-clipping if I can find where she's most recently hidden the clippers, and then I'm going to sit still for several hours while she gets love. There is no better gift one can give a cat.

Happy birthday, Alice. This is only the beginning.

::beams:: Happy Birthday, Miss Alice Price-Healy Little Liddel Abernathy McGuire. And no fair scaring everybody like that. But all is well, and I wish you a day full of head-scritches and tummy-rubs.
Right now, she's having a day full of busting her brother.
Happy Birthday to Her Puffiness!
And gah, I just realized my standard birthday icon is a little macabre in this context. Ignore the Izzardness.

Hopefully Alice will enjoy her birthday, though I have yet to see a cat who likes claw clippers.
She hates 'em. Lilly doesn't.

She's only mean to you. You're SPECIAL.

Happy birthday, oh giant kitten niece. I'm so glad you're well again.c
She looks bemused.
Happy Birthday, Alice! Glad to see you're getting better!
I have passed your well-wishes on.
Some cats, she said, looking at Horus-paws, may achieve adult size, but never quite get out of being kittens (or at least catlets). Horus is a lovely boy, but his bounce and common sense have never got much beyond the 6-months-old-and-into-everything stage.
This is pretty much Winston, too. Four years old and I still call him my kitten.

Happy birthday, kittygirl. *scritches her*
She purrs.
Happy Birthday Alice!
Thank you!
Happy Birthday to Alice and hugs and scritches to her. And Hugs to you for being a wonderful cat mama.
Thank you.
Happy Birthday Alice! Cuddles and scritches to a lovely Maine Coon lady. I'm so glad she's better.
Ohhh, yes, cuddling with cats. Last night I only wanted to give a cuddly Kater some scritches. I lay down beside him, he purred. We both went to sleep. :)
Awwww, sleeping with kitties is the best.
Happy Birthday to Her Royal Fluffiness!
Passed along!
Happy birthday and grown-up day to Alice! (Well -- my mother says she got into her second childhood without leaving the first, perhaps Alice is trying the same?) Some cats do 'dignity', others just don't. But cats of all kinds are a goodness...
Agreed.
Happy birthday, fluffy belly girl! Yeti will actually chase after people and then flop down in their path to demand belly pettings; Cleo only shows off her belly when she is semiconscious, and immediately returns to a dignified position when she wakes up completely.

Quadrupedicure night involves obsessivewoman seating a cat in her lap and feeding them one treat per paw while I trim the claws. Cleo, ever food-motivated, loves this, and doubtless wishes she were polydactyl so she could get more treats. Yeti is less fond of it, though he’s mellowed as he gets older.
That's a good approach!
Three cheers for Alice's healthy birthday!
Yaaay!
Happy birthday, Alice!!!
Passed duly along.
Happy birthday, Alice! In other news, stevemb's & my Kimba & Vir turned 6 yesterday. (The pic is Vir as a kitten, but they looked so alike at that age that even the person who raised them couldn't tell them apart.)
Awwww, babies.
Happy Birthday to Alice! Two already, gee that flew by.
I know, right?!
Happy birthday Alice! May you have many more!
Agreed.
Happy Birthday Miss Alice!

Some cats remain kittens for ever, Bucky my Coonie is six, but he's still very kittenish, whereas my other two, Callista and Nyx are 13 and have never been kittens, even when they WERE kittens.

They were born middle aged.

Awww. Pretty babies.
Happy birthday, Alice! May you have many more happy, healthy years.
Thank you.
So glad she's doing well. My big white guy, Sam, had urinary blockage in November 2007 and I came *so close* to having to put him down for lack of funds to pay for treatment at the emergency clinic, and then follow-up care. *shuddertwitch* Terrifying. The relief afterward and appreciation for having him around is indescribable. He was my fave before that, and definitely has been since.
Oh, wow.

I am so glad he's okay.

Yay Alice! Happy Birthday!
She was duly lauded.
I'm very glad that Alice's health continues to improve. The often-used follower to "Happy Birthday" is "and many more", and that takes on extra meaning after this scare.

In commemoration of this auspicious day, you are authorized to act as my agent to pass along 4 brow-scritches and 1 belly-rub.
Happy Birthday Alice from the little black cat (The Morrigan) and the big fat blue cat (Merlin)-and Darcy and Melissa too.
Gladly passed along.
