InCryptid: It's a family affair.

It is with extreme pleasure and with no small degree of squeaky joy that I announce that the first two InCryptid books have been acquired by DAW Books. These urban fantasy adventures focus on the Price family of cryptozoologists as they seek to protect the cryptids of the world from humanity...and humanity from the cryptids of the world. The first two volumes are:

Discount Armageddon
Midnight Blue-Light Special

Cryptids and cuckoos and field guides, oh my! Words really can't express how insanely happy I am right now. I'm going to be working with the same team at DAW, which means I know I will have great editorial, fantastic in-house support, and a whole lot of sheer bonus fun. I'm so excited that you're all going to get the chance to meet these people. They're some of my favorites. And now, in the words of the Aeslin mice...

Now, perhaps I should start with the congratulations, but I've been waiting for the chance to read this for a while so I'm going to keep going with the celebratory thoughts for at least a little while now.

But that aside, congratulations on another well-deserved publishing contract.

Hooray! More Seanan McGuire stuff to devour.

Did you realize that Josh and I bought a copy of An Artificial Night, even though he won the signed ARC and we'd already read it? We wanted a copy we could read without worrying about it getting wrecked, and that we could lend out.

I understand the InCryptid stuff involves ballroom dancing? Josh and I have been learning that very skill over the last few months, and it's been loads of fun.

I did not realize, but that makes me very happy. And yes, the InCryptid books involve ballroom dancing, at least at the start.

ZOMG CONGRATULATIONS ZOMG!! You are a series-selling machine! Soon ALL THE BOOKS will be Seanan's. I'm looking forward to reading these! They sound crazy and fun! Are they lighter fare than the Toby books?

They are, a bit. I tend to say that on the 1 to 10 seriousness scale, if Newsflesh is a 9, Toby is a 6, and the InCryptid books are a 3. On a good day. Some days, they don't crack 2.
