I'm a Zombie Girl, in a Zombie wo-oo-orld...

I'm a Zombie Girl,
In a Zombie wo-oo-orld,
I'm decaying,
But I'm staying!

Out of mercy to the sensitive souls among you, I will stop there. See how merciful I can be? When I remember that other people don't necessarily enjoy cannibalism before breakfast? Then again, when one is attempting to build a better pain chart (thank you, Hyperbole and a Half), sometimes it's necessary to find out where the limits are.

I'm in a very Mira mood today, maybe because it's gray and raining, maybe because my weekend is like a katamari, and full of things, and maybe because, drullroll please...

FEED is a 2010 Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Nominee in the Science Fiction Category! (For a slightly more compact ballot, focusing on the paranormal and science fiction nominees, check this link.)

I am, like, crazy-excited over this, because this is a really big deal. The Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Awards are a great bellwether of quality and awesomeness, and this is my first time appearing on the ballot. I'm truly, totally jazzed. So, y'know. Fingers crossed and the apocalypse doesn't come!

Yeah, but for many people cannibalism, it's what's for breakfast.
Technically, everyone's a cannibal - we all eat parts of ourselves like chewing on your lip and the cells that slough off in our mouths. Autocannibalism for all!

Congrats!

We're goin' to the Amoeba Hop
Everybody's gonna be there
Got my eye on a cute paramecium
You know the one with the wavy hair
Rockin' and rollin'',shakin' our cells
and flappin' our flagella all over
Well, the good times don't never gonna stop
When you go to the Amoeba Hop

Amoeba Hop by Christine Lavin
Mercy? What is this "mercy" of which you speak? *evil grin*

Congratulations! Party on!

(I love living in the 21st century. I can go to YouTube, type in "dancing germs", and find this bit of pure awesome:

The description: 2nd Graders are making symmetrical germs in art class. We just found this rare footage of germs dancing in a nearby laboratory. Fortunately, we have nothing to worry about, because 2nd graders are always washing their hands, covering coughs and sneezes, and throwing tissues in the garbage. These germs don't have a chance with us.)

That is fantastic.
I love the better pain charts; thanks for the pointer. Unfortunately, I seem to be spending an unfortunate amount of my time lately at 7 or higher.

I'll consider it. :)
Congrats on the nomination! I'm glad to see Feed getting the notice it deserves from the reviewers. Based on the quite biased sample of people I've forced the book upon, it's been quite well received around here. :)

Also, love the pain chart, thanks for the link. And is it wrong that I'm sad that you stopped with Zombie Girl? (Well, yes, but I suspect not unusual among your audience :))
Very welcome, and also, hee.
Congratulations!

Oh, and I just finished Faithfully. Made me cry in a good way.
Awesome, thank you.
Love love love the pain chart--I can SO relate!

Congrats on the nomination--they should pick you for sure!! When will we get to see your name as "The Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Award Winner" for 2010??

I'm at work, where Pandemic Dance Party moves are NOT appreciated....but know that I'm dancing on the inside!
If I win, I will definitely let you know!
So for a moment, I thought your unpublished _Blackout_ was on the list, too...Congratulations! (Does a shambling zombie dance of glee.)
Heeee.
I've finished breakfast; can there be more zombie parodying now if I ask nicely?

Congratulations on your nomination! Every time I see something big like this happen for you it makes me happy because of reading your journal and knowing all the hard work you put in to creating these stories. Not that I'm not sure other writers don't work just as hard (I may have horribly abused my negatives there, oops), but this is a bit more up close and personal.
I understand, and thank you.
Holy codfish you are kicking ass and taking names with that book lady! WOOT!!! I shall now eat pumpkin cheesecake in your honor.
Yay cheesecake!
See how merciful I can be? When I remember that other people don't necessarily enjoy cannibalism before breakfast?

While I recognize that such people exist, whatever would they be doing here?
Looking lost.
I am reading Feed right now and really enjoying it! Congrats on your nomination!☺
Thank you!
Does this award come with a tiara? ;-) Think you'll just get a trophy, but trophies are still awesome! Kittehs love teh shinees... :-)
They're fun to bat around, it's true.

Good for you re the RT nomination!

Does my stomach trying to eat itself before breakfast count as cannibalism?
Yes.
Congrats on the nod - that's awesome!
Thank you!
Pandemic dance party?

... Can I just be Madagascar and hang out by the punch bowl?
Yes.

Yes, you can.
... I wanted to hear the rest of it. *sadface*

(also EEE YAY.)
Hee.
Not being a sensitive soul, I demand that you finish that gorgeous rendition of Zombie Girl (in private, perhaps, out of respect for those who do have a sensitve soul).

So when do we get to see pictures of Thomas? I WANT KUTE KITTEH NAO! *G* I also want to know the next time you're going to be in New York (City or State).
Possibly never. I have a lot to get done—I still haven't posted Australia pictures!—and I've said that I really need to not be asked for them, or they'll not be posted, as they're pretty labor-intensive.

I'll be in New York again next May, definitely.

Congrats on the nomination!

I just preordered "Wicked Girls" and threw in a little extra for sponsorship.
Awesome! Thank you!
I'm reading Feed at the moment and this book is so totally awesome that it deserves every bit of goodness that comes it's way. This is coming from someone who overall doesn't understand the current appeal of zombie apocalypse for all that I loved Zombieland.
Aww, yay. :)
Could you please unpack "like a katamari" for the non-gamers?
"Like a big ball full of things have have been all sort of jumbled together with no real concern for how similar they actually are."
