Announcing a new Toby story! Squee!

So first off, because I couldn't say this earlier, and also, HOLY CATS, here go: I was asked, by Charlaine Harris and Toni Kelner, to submit a story for one of their totally insanely awesome urban fantasy theme collections. You know, the ones like Wolfsbane and Mistletoe and Death's Excellent Vacation. The ones I have sometimes DREAMED about being asked to write for.

THEY ASKED ME TO WRITE THEM A STORY AND I SAID YES AND OH MY GOD YOU GUYS, LOOK:

The story, titled "Through This House," takes place between Late Eclipses and One Salt Sea. It involves Toby, Quentin, May, Danny, and some giant spiders, and while it was intentionally written to be non-essential—you don't have to get the book to understand what's going on in book five—I really like it.

But mostly, right now, I'm just REALLY EXCITED. Like, super-duper grasshopper pie and a magic unicorn pogo stick excited. My first appearance in an actual hardcover! Ohmygawd!

Happy Saturday!

Woo, congrats!
Thanks!
Squee! More Toby is always good. I loved her little adventure with Danny at the start of An Artificial Night.
So did Danny!
Congratulations, Seanan! Always time for more Toby goodness. You just had to put a giant spider in there, didn't you?
Sorry about that...
It's a Toby story.

Damn, I'm gonna have to buy the book.

(Not actually upset about this.)
Hee!
too cool!
I'm jazzed.
Congratulations! That's so exciting!
I'm overjoyed.
Yay and congrats! :)
Thank you!
Awesome sauce!
Hee.
Congratulations!!
Thanks!
Congratulations, that's wonderful news!
Thank you!
congratulations!!!
*dance*
Awesome!

Of course, I'll have to buy it.

Did I tell you I was reading Rosemary and Rue waiting in line for Charlaine Harris's autograph? Lots of people marveled that I could be so engrossed in a book in the middle of all that noise.

Now I kinda wish I hadn't hidden the book when I got to the front of the line. (I thought she'd be insulted I wasn't reading one of hers.) We could've had a conversation about how awesome you are. Ah, well.
She would probably have been thrilled, because she's that kind of awesome.
Yay! Congratulations!!
Thank you!
Congratulations! I'll have to put in an order at the local bookstore when it comes out.
Yay!
Oh, darn...I have a meeting on Monday at a Starbucks that's attached to a Barnes & Noble and YOU have a new story out there in the world! What a pity... *SQUEEEEEE!*

Congratulations!! It's very well deserved!
Sadly, there will be no book until August. :(
Oooh! Awesome!
Glee. :)
Congrats! I can't wait to get this one.
Neither can I!
Yay! Congrats, Seanan!
Thank you!
AN AWESOME IS YOU

BUT WE KNEW THIS

*dances you around the room!*
*dances with you*

Nice. Really nice.

Charlene Harris has actually been on my waitlist since late last week. I'm reading Jim Butcher's Odd Jobs, and one of the shorts in it was written for an anthology Charlene was putting together, and Jim said so many nice things about her that I I've got to check her books out.

And I gather having her ask you to be in one of her anthologies means that you've arrived. On centre stage. Wearing your tiara. And sparkly high heels.

Congratulations!

It does. Her anthologies are a very big honor. I'm very excited.
Yay you!
Glee. :)
Congrats on being in the this awesomely undead hardcover collection! AND I just saw that Publishers Weekly listed FEED as one of their top books of the year so congrats on that, too!
Yay! Thank you.
I am slowly catching up... AWESOME! That would have been an automagic buy for me anyway, but getting a story of yours as well is awesome frosting on the awesome cake!
Hee yay.
Cat-startling eeking has ensued; congratulations!
Thank you!
