In which Seanan is essentially a corpse, and the cats are fluffy.

So my "little cold" turned quickly into "my big cold," and from there turned into my "oh sweet Great Pumpkin, let me die" cold. Isn't the human body awesome? I have treated it, thus far, with chicken soup and television, including a multi-hour House marathon. No matter what I've got, they've got something worse!

The cats, self-centered beasts that they are, love-love-love it when I have a cold that requires me to stay at home, crumbled under fluffy blankets and yearning for death. Why? Because it means I don't move much, and am, instead, available for endless petting of the cats. This is exactly how the world is meant to be...at least if you're asking the cats. I do love my cats. That's why they are not yet mittens.

(I'm getting my revenge, actually. I'm making them eat their Science Diet. They hate Science Diet. Mwahahahahahaha.)

The nice thing about a cold, for me, is that I get to spend the night sleeping the deep sleep of the Q-dosed heart, with its attendant, incredibly vivid dreams. I went to the premiere of the Feed movie last night in my sleep, you guys, and it was totally awesome. So hey, there's something to be said for viral amplification, right? Right?

Okay, writing this has exhausted me. I'm going to go watch more House.

Get rest and enjoy the kitties, OK?
They are PUFFY.
They’re just snuggling up to you with their 101.5°F bodies to help you maintain a fever to render your body inhospitable to the invading virus. Because they’re discerning felines who know you would never want to be taken out by something as tawdry as a mere rhinovirus.
They are good feline companions.
Just remember, it's never lupus (except when it is.)

Get well soon!
Thank you!
the kitties think you make a great toe warmer.
I do.
Sad for you... Happy for cats?
Sad for me... no cats.
Pretty much! And awwww...
Clearly a lively chorus of "Seanan Dear" is in order....

Seanan dear, let’s be clear,
When you speak of plagues and zombies
We’ve been taking it as given that you’d be immune!
Seanan dear, listen here,
“Living dead” is not an option;
We insist that you get better really soon!

Heee.
Aw. Feel better soon.
Thank you.
Don't watch HOUSE, for pete's sake - you'll have yourself second-guessing and extrapolating your symptoms and you'll wind up convincing yourself you are suffering from some rare autoimmune syndrome you contacted from the bite of a South American spider which you didn't know you had and which you brought into your house inadvertently with that last bunch of bananas you bought - probably coupled with four other unrelated diseases and a handful of environmental toxin adverse reactions to that new cleaning stuff you bought last week which says it's nice and organic but have you LOOKED at the list of ingredients and what is that poisonous something listed in small print at the bottom of the label...?

(Get better soon..)
Nah, I found it pretty soothing. Again, no matter what's wrong with me, they're all worse.
*tucks you in on the sofa, and hands you the remote, DDP, and kleenex.*
*nestles on the floor with cooler of standby DDP and the cat brush*

Awesome, on all counts.
Our cats love Science Diet. Specifically, Dorothy loves Science Diet Mature formula and Vir, Kimba, & Heidi love Science Diet Kitten formula. Too bad Dorothy is the kitten and the other three are the grownups.

Whoops.
*Much yearning here for the preview of Feed the movie...*
Hee yes.
I can tell you why you're sick! Your time-traveling self from the future is here.

Today in Walgreens I saw a sweet, round little old lady with a super bright crayola blue coat, a pumpkin orange cloche hat, comfy sneakers, and a cane literally covered, top to bottom, with My Little Pony stickers that were then covered with a nice coat of shellac or glue or something.

I kind of wondered if I'd see her buying DDP if I hung around, but y'know, I try not to stalk people.
...whoa.

Being in the process of recovering from a nasty cold, I do sympathise. Just keep resting and get better soon.
Thanks.

I'd recommend Moccasin Flats. Warning. Canadian Broadcast TV isn't as bland as American Broadcast TV. The F Word, and major nudity are allowed.
I have a lot of Canadian TV on DVD. I know from the limits. :)
Big sympathies on the cold ... Gary (husband) caught the flu at World Fantasy and it landed him in the hospital for a couple of days due to lung inflammation. Me, I caught something and it just made me cranky and nonproductive.
Is he better now? I worried when I saw your announcement.

I thought this might cheer you. And/or provide fuel for the fever dreams.

Squid fly. Now with photos.
DUDE.
We went to Borderlands and they were out of Feed, but I got my friend to buy Rosemary and Rue.

Feel better!
Um, yeah. Sorry about that. I cleaned 'em out on Tuesday.

I'm not really sorry, because autographed copies of Feed and An Artificial Night made really awesome gifts for friends. But I'll accept blame, seeing as how it's definitely my fault.

I'm sending good vibes for mending.

The dogs, OTOH, want to know if you can send your germs to me, so they can sit on me and demand petting...
I'll get right on that.
I wish you well. I'd send you homemade chicken soup, but by the time it got there you'll be all better. If you disagree with this assessment I'll send you a quart on Monday.

Be glad your cats merely snuggle. When I was recovering from abdominal surgery a few months ago, I lay down, thinking that I felt like crap and could totally use a snuggling cat or two... then our youngest cat came in and pounced directly on the surgical site. I have no recollection of the sound I made nor the following minutes, but the cats were no longer in the room and the door was closed.

Also, I have a suspicion that some cats dislike Science Diet due to the shape of the pellets. I think they're a bit too big, and unlike say Meow Mix, a cat has a hard time breaking the pellets into smaller bits (as I've observed some cats do).
They just seem to hate the flavor. I'm going to switch them back to Royal Canin tonight.

Hope you're feeling better! (And is this the wet or dry SciDiet? We find our cats hate the wet but are OK with the dry.)
Dry.
