Alligators, and the Everglades.

Bit by bit, I am beginning to catch up on everything that went undone while I was in Australia! First up...

The Living Dead [Amazon]|[Mysterious Galaxy] is one of my favorite anthologies of the past few years. It's smart, it's savvy, it's awesome, and it's chock-full of zombie goodness, in every shape and size and degree of decomposition. So when it was announced that there was going to be a sequel, you can probably guess that I damn near dislocated something running to beg for a slot on the table of contents.

Well, I got it—or Mira did, anyway. "Everglades" is a story of the Rising, set in the Newsflesh universe more than twenty years before the events of Feed. You can acquire it, along with many other pieces of awesome zombie awesomeness, in The Living Dead 2 [Amazon]|[Mysterious Galaxy]. We're talking forty-three stories, many of them appearing for the first time ever, all edited by the fabulous John Joseph Adams. It's swanky.

Come on. Let us tell you a deadtime story.

Woot, new Mira Story!!!...

Still I don't think that's the biggest news out of Australia now, is it???
No, but this is the most outdated news—I'd meant to post it before I lost Internet access. Plus I actually want to be awake when I make the important post.

I can confirm that TLD2 is indeed awesome (review here: http://zombiefictionreview.blogspot.com/2010/07/book-review-living-dead-2.html), as is your tale in it. And congrats on your win! I didn't see you after the Hugos, so didn't get a chance to say 'congrats' or 'bye' in person (you must have been off playing with the Cool Kids after that :) ).
I was off looking stunned and trying not to wander into traffic!
Wierd, not sure if response posted.. I had said I figured you were still suffering from random acts of Squee.
Ahhh. Yup.

Dude, awesome.
Welcome back!
Thank you!
Welcome back with many conga-rats.

Hmmm... what sort of nasty diseases are carried by the fleas of a conga-rat...

Melissa returns to work tomorrow, and I think I have to take her so I can go shopping. So far our purchase list includes another copy of Artificial Night, Living Dead 2, and Tanya's Truth of Valor, all of which BN.com lists as in stock at her store.

BTW, finished Artificial Night on the way home from AussieCon, and I think it's my favorite of the Toby series - at least so far. No promises that it will remain on top when the next ones come out!

Welcome home...and I'll see you next week! WOOT!
How fabulous! It's such a great story and glad it will be amplified in print for all to enjoy!
Glee. :)
Damn it, Seanan...you did it again!! I read AAN in record time--and if I hadn't HAD to stop to eat, sleep and go to work (someone's gotta buy the goat feed!), I would have had it done in a day. As it was, all I did was read when I wasn't eating, sleeping or working. Didn't make me very popular around here either, lemme tell ya!

It's no wonder you're looking so great in that new headgear!

I've overextended my book budget this month, so will have to wait to read the new Mira story...but read it, I will!!
Most excellent. So glad you liked AAN!

Seanan, I just wanted to tell you that AAN came on Tuesday and I read it last night (I'm in Germany these days), and it was the most touchingly haunting Toby book to date. I cried three times while reading it. And I can't wait to see what the heck Tybalt was talking about in his cryptic references. Here's to March! And THANK YOU for filling my bookcases with another awesome series. *HUGS*
I'm so glad you liked it! Remember, nothing says "love" like a review...
Thank you for reading "Everglades" at SpoCon! The excerpt from DEADLINE was quite fun, too!
Very welcome! Will you be there Saturday?
