Pausing for amazement, and a review of FEED.

There is a review of Feed in the October issue of SciFi Magazine. This is a major newsstand glossy, produced by the media group that ones the SyFy Channel (you know, where I spend much of my time). The cover story is about Resident Evil: Afterlife. Inside, there are stories about Haven and the new season of Eureka.

And then there is me.

A review of my book. In this magazine.

Sometimes this business of writing continues to astonish me. I know, I know: I worked hard, I worked for a long time, this isn't all being handed to me on platters by magical ponies from the moon (which is really a pity, as I would love to catch me some magical moon ponies of my very own). I don't sit here feeling like I'm getting things I shouldn't have...even if I do occasionally wonder when I'm going to wake up from this astonishingly detailed linear dream.

My book is reviewed in a magazine that includes a review of a Resident Evil movie and a television show based on the works of Stephen King. If there was any actual question of whether or not I may have accidentally sold my soul at the crossroads, this pretty much answers it.

Good thing I keep a fiddler around, huh?

Golly.

Wow. Adam Troy-Castro. I've been reading his reviews of things fannish since the mid-80s.

You rock!
I have the glee.

That's quite all right! I love new people. :)

It's fun. I'm hoping it'll be fantastic, I'd like to keep doing this.

Compared to Heinlein! Except you do women characters more competently, less insultingly, and more real.

Congratulations!
Thank you!

Make sure they brush up on their Paganini.
I totally will.
Huzzah! Congratulations!

First NPR, now SciFi Magazine. Next stop - the New York Times...
Oh please oh please oh please...

Glee.
Wow, awesome. You got compared to Heinlein and Romero in the same breath.

My gaming session last weekend involved the release of a zombie virus in a densely populated city, after which we went to the ground zero world for the virus. I told the GM he needed to read Feed, but I hope he doesn't get any ideas about character death from you.
Awwwwwwww, why not?
That is utterly awesome! Congrats!
Thank you!
Oh my god, that is so totally awesome. But also, totally deserved. There is a reason that in my shelf-review of Feed at the bookstore where I work the 'ever' in the phrase "best zombie book I have ever read" is underlined. Twice.

I'm reading my way through the Toby books at the moment and loving them, too (just finished reading Rosemary and Rue, waiting impatiently for my copy of A Local Habitation to arrive).

Quick question I've been meaning to ask (but was too shy to comment until now) - when you come to Australia for the Campbell Awards, do you have any plans for appearances elsewhere in Australia? I know if you were, you probably would have said something already, but, well... a Sydneysider can dream, can't she?
I don't know yet! Australia is Very Large, and I'm still trying to coordinate things. I have hope!
You better be sure to catch enough moon ponies to breed 'em. They could be your new contest prizes! :D
Ooooooo, yeah.
The world is going to be so much more awesome when you rule it.
Damn straight.
Seanan, I am so proud. I am so grateful to Sooj for introducing me to your body of work. You are AMAZING!!!
Thank you so much!
