People ask periodically "so, just how big is your cat now?", like they think I exaggerate Alice's size for some insane reason. I mean, Maine Coon, guys, these are the cats they designed to star in SyFy Original Pictures.
I give you Alice, with a copy of Rosemary and Rue for scale, taken inside the last few weeks:
I'm betting whenever a random stranger comes by the house--cable repairman, dude in the little brown shorts bearing a parcel, Jehovah's Witness, or whatever--the first words out of his/her mouth, after taking a gander at the splendiferous Alice, are something like, "WOW!! That's a BIG CAT!!"... right?
It's the same here. (Proud parent of ginormous Ragdoll boycat. ;D)
Damn... if I weren't in the process of moving and thus didn't have my copy of R&R in a box I'd take a picture of my Vienna-monster for comparison. She's about the same age as Alice, and is nowhere near her size.
Ah, but does she realize yet that she's bigger than Lily?
My housemate has 2 cats. Pixel beat up on Puff consistently when they were kittens, because she was bigger. But now that they're grown, he's bigger than she is. He hasn't figured this out yet, though, and cowers from her if she's displeased. It's very funny.
My Beau is part maine coon, and nobody ever believes how big he is either. He's about as big as Alice. But he's six, so he's not getting any bigger...I don't think (hard to tell with Maine Coons...I thought he was done once before and he suddenly got bigger.)
Our youngest is about a year old, and he seems to have a not-inconsequential amount of Maine Coon in his lineage: he's got the toe tufts, the ruff, the face, and possibly the wisps on the ear. Oh, and the enormous puffy tail of "But I are stealthy! How did you find me?!". He's only a year old now, so he's nowhere near Alice's size - yet.
Oh ye gods and little fishes, she's one solid cat.
I miss Forrest, my dad's beast of a Maine Coon, who shuffled off his fluffy coil a few years ago. He was a Good Cat, except for when he let himself outside (we soon learned to lock the screen door), or tried to eat my face.
So that's what a Maine Coon is supposed to look like? I knew they were supposed to be big, but I haven't actually seen one.
Oh, and ... I'm sorry, but most cats have too much dignity to star in SyFy productions. That's why SyFy has to make things like Dinocroc VS. Supergator. *sigh*
She's lovely! :D I've seen Maine Coons before so have seen how huge they can be. What will you do once she grows so large that she can toss you out of bed? >^.^
Is that possible regardless of what kind of bed it is?
(Imagine a Maine Coon dive-bombing a waterbed from the highest point in the room to create a wave. If the tale is true, this is apparently entertaining, especially when somebody is sleeping on the bed.)

Pretty Kitty!

This also gives them all the advantages of opening doors, cabinets, toilets and in getting away when you really, really need to pill them.
I love how Alice's eyes match the font on R&R and your sheets. She's the Halloween Queen Kitty, isn't she?

I see her and I remember that Maine Coons take rather a long time to mature and I sort of want to start making a saddle for you now.
She is so beautiful. Though I cannot see the toe fluff and belly fluff, I know it is there.

In a one-year old girl kitty, this is HUGE.
