Life cancelled on account of sick.

Last Wednesday, I was feeling lousy, in that annoying, "incipient cold" sort of a way. I spent the evening doing as little as humanly possible, and went to bed early, hoping this would be enough to stave off the inevitable.

It was not enough to stave off the inevitable.

I woke up on Thursday feeling like I'd been beaten up in the night. I couldn't breathe. Possibly because I couldn't breathe, I became dizzy if I stood up for too long, I couldn't focus, and anything more complex than dozing on the couch while watching endless episodes of The West Wing was pretty much beyond me. I literally called my mother to bring me orange juice and soup. Neither of which had any flavor at all. After sleeping through most of the day, I went to bed praying that the worst was over.

The worst was not, in fact, over, as Friday brought with it several exciting new symptoms, including a deep, bone-rattling cough and stomach issues, neither of which had been invited to the party on Thursday. Oh, yay! I got off the couch a bit more often on Friday, since I had to do some running to the bathroom, but it was still a primarily stationary day.

Why is this relevant to your interests, beyond the vague "aww, poor baby, you've been sick" factor? Because I just went literally four days with essentially no computer contact whatsoever. I didn't do any writing until Sunday evening, when I finished the Sparrow Hill story for August. I didn't answer any email at all. I didn't even put on outside clothes until Saturday. So if you're waiting for something from me, or you think that I'm ignoring you, I promise, it's just my mind-boggling nasty summer cold.

I still sound like I have tuberculosis, or at least a cousin of same, but I can walk now, and that's a massive improvement. Things are returning, glacially, to normal.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled babbling.

I am so sorry you're sick. I am so glad you did not agree to come to Duckon, because you would be like unto the shambling undead and eat us all.

*sending love and soup*
Yeah, that's what I was saying to Amy. I would've spent the whole convention in my hotel room.
Hope the nasty cold goes away quickly.
It seems to be clearing up, thankfully.
Yipes! Glad you're recovering.
Let's just hope this is it for the summer.
get well soon!
Thank you!

I'm glad you're feeling better. Sick sucks.
It sounds horrid. Glad you're feeling better.
Me, too, and thank you.
*e-hug* Hopefully that's it for illnesses for the year?
Oh please oh please.
I'm sorry you've been sick, and glad you're feeling better. Please do continue to take care of yourself so that you don't relapse?
I'm drinking lots of fluids and taking it easy, I swear.

Blah. Feel better soon!
Working on it!
I'm sorry to hear that you were sick and had to miss a con, but am glad that it wasn't fatal. Hopefully you won the illness lottery early and won't have to go round again this year.
Oh, I hope so.
So many hugs, so much Thai Roasted Garlic soup, so many zombie apps.
Mmmmmmm, soup.
Get better soon
Thank you.
Shall I dispatch the Very Small Ninjas to help you with some stuff about the house so you can rest and relax?
Please!
Poor cranky blonde. *pets you* If it's any comfort, I had that at roughly the same time -- though, and I didn't think I'd meet anyone of whom I could say this, not quite as bad. Gotta hand it to you, Seanan, you don't do anything halfway!

Sadly, no, I really don't. :(

That bug came through work like a freight train a few months ago - unless it has released an upgrade since then, it really does have a short duration (in comparison) with only the cough lasting more than 72 hours - hope that's encouraging. Lots of tea - lots of sleep - only thing that really helps, long-term.

Relieved you're feeling better -
Me, too.
Ug. Not fun. Not fun at all.

Glad you are feeling somewhat less zombiefied.
It's a lovely change.
Yikes! Sounds like the cousin to what I had in February (but that left its pet cough with me for eight weeks whilst it went away to bug someone else).

I remember years ago, when I lived in Monte Vista, there was this little American Greek restaurant down Stevens Creek Blvd. in a strip mall that had Lemon Rice Soup which I would beg my folks to get for me when I was sick. I think I liked it because it was something I could taste when the rotting crud infested my taste buds and wasn't spicy enough to set off other problems. Wish I could send you some now.

♥Warm hugs♥ and kitty cuddles while you recover.
The cats have been very helpful. They keep me from trying to move.
Ugh, I hope you are well soon.
Me, too.
Gah, the double wammy cold which affects the stomach :( Feel better soon.
There is very little less fun than barfing when your nose is stuffed up.
So glad to hear you're turning the corner and improving. *gentlehugs*
Thanks, sweetie.
Feel better soon! Those lingering coughs are killer.
So. Much. Hate.
My coworker seems to have what you had, so I'm a little worried that the infection is stalking me and getting closer with every case until it gets me.

On a happier note, my offer of purple-death codeine-enhanced cough syrup still stands!
I may wind up taking you up on that. Yeesh.

To do: invent better quality stave. :-)
OMG YES.

I'll do my best!
Oh dear D: I think I had the mini version of that cold a few times last year, coupled with a month long cough each time.

I'm glad you're feeling better, and I hope the remaining symptoms get lost quickly! :)
I'd just like to stop sounding like a plague carrier. People keep glaring at me.
