A few quick Tuesday notes.

Mantis: still in my bathroom. He has relocated his tiny insectivore self to the roll of paper towels, where he has a higher vantage from which to snatch unsuspecting flies out of the air and devour their tiny brainless bodies. He's very yellow, and too small for my camera (which is actually Rey's camera, and not terribly high-tech) to be very happy about trying to focus on him. Which is a pity, 'cause he's pretty.

The mantis will probably be going to live in Kate and GP's garden tonight, where, as Kate puts it, 'he will grow fat and strong in the Bird of Paradise.' As they currently have no mantids, and I have an entire home-grown colony, this is probably fair, but I'm still going to miss him.

Lycanthropy: still finished. I was a little worried when I woke up this morning that I'd discover my belief that the book was done to be some sort of perverse, wicked hallucination, brought about by inhaling too many Sharpie fumes, but no, the book is really done. This draft of the book, anyway. Now I get to start doing the heavy lifting of revision and correction...but since you can't revise or correct until a book is finished, I'm really not finding myself all that concerned.

Although...

...just sayin'.

Lilly would like my attention now, and as I do not believe in thwarting Siamese when avoidable, I'll be back later.

Not bothered at all! The answer is, alas, currently no; I do have a comic strip, but it's been very firmly Not A Webcomic, as it has no update schedule beyond 'I'm bored, I think I'll ink something,' and there's no functional archive.

We're planning to get an archive posted on my website when we finish the currently-ongoing rebuild -- I've got a full redesign underway, courtesy of Chris and Tara, and I try not to poke them too much.

Any idea when Rosemary and Rue is coming out?

What about Red Roses and Dead Things?

Will, "Blow ye Winds, Blow" ever be recorded?

Is there any place I can find some of your writing?

1. Nope. As soon as I know, I'll be screaming it from every available forum, including my user info here, my website, and the blogs of everybody I know.

2. January 2009; we'll be opening pre-orders in October.

3. Probably not.

4. Not currently; there will be some samples and tie-in fiction fun on the website, once we finish the rebuild and relaunch.

Thank you! I try very hard to be a kind person, because I figure that's what balances out the tiny, giggling corner of my heart that says 'what if we threw a pandemic and everybody came?' at inopportune moments.

I know you may not be the person to ask, but how does one purchase a CD from your site with cash?

The main danger of doing cash is that you'd be sending it through the mail -- I really recommend either check or money order, just for the sake of safety. That said, if you select the 'check' option during the order process, it'll give you an address to which the check can be sent. Sending cash to the same place would absolutely work.

I do understand that feeling...sometimes I wish I could rewrite "Christmas Magic" (my urban-fantasy novella about Santa Claus) just to spend more time with Nick and Kendall and Silent Hawk.

And they've already spawned one- it's one of the currently stalled projects. There's also a prequel, "Silent Night," but it makes me cry whenever I try to work on it because I know what I have to do to poor Nick and his father, and consequently I haven't gotten far.

Oh, dear; the agony of required back-story torture. I know exactly what you mean. It hits me often and hard with the Healy girls, who really deserve better than they get from me.

I know the feeling. In my prequel, I have to kill Santa Claus to pass the mantle to his son, and the literal cause of death is the cynicism of the modern world. In one of the eternally-dark-in-winter parts of Alaska. It's like stabbing myself with an icicle.

Sometimes I think we should be locked up somewhere for the good of our characters. Then I remember those characters wouldn't exist without us, and then I think I begin to understand why there is pain and evil in the universe.

Best of luck with shopping Bashed -- I can't wait for the chance to read it! And yeah, totally. Finish a book, hate it. Rewrite a book, hate it more. Step backwards, and realize that you've just made something...
