Marcon concert set list.

I have finally managed to stagger home from Marcon, where I had a wonderful time as their Music Guest of Honor, only to get stranded overnight in Chicago (more on this later). As is the standing tradition around here, I now present my concert set list, including annotation and lyric links, because that's what makes it useful.

The Marcon list, with arrangement notes, was as follows:

1. "Counting Crows." (Seanan, vocals; Tom Smith, guitar; Amy McNally, fiddle.)
2. "The Ghost of Lilly Kane." (Seanan, vocals; Dr. Mary Crowell, piano.)
3. "Another Mad Science Love Song." (Seanan, Tom, vocals; Tom, guitar; Mary, Amy, minions.)
4. "What A Woman's For." (Seanan, Mary, Amy, vocals; Mary, piano.)
5. "Missing Part." (Seanan, vocals; Tom, guitar; Amy, fiddle.)
6. "The Black Death." (Seanan, vocals; Tom, guitar; Amy, Mary, eager students.)
7. "Silent Hill." (Seanan, vocals; Mary, piano.)
8. "Dear Gina." (Seanan, Mary, vocals; Mary, piano.)
9. "In the Foam." (Seanan, vocals.)
10. "Mother of the Crows." (Seanan, vocals; Mary, piano; Amy, fiddle.)
11. "Still Catch the Tide." (Seanan, Judi Miller, vocals; Mary, piano; Amy, fiddle.) Talis Kimberley cover.
12. "My Story Is Not Done." (Seanan, vocals; Mary, piano; Amy, fiddle; everybody, last chorus vocals.)
13. "Wicked Girls Saving Ourselves." (Seanan, vocals; Mary, piano; Amy, fiddle.)

The bridge for "Wicked Girls" was...

"Now Debbie's a pirate, and Vixy's run off with the fairies.
Diana keeps careful account of the treasure she buries,
Kate poses riddles, and Mary plays tricks,
While Amy calls music from wires and sticks,
And the rules that we live by are simple and clear..."

This was the first time I was able to perform with Tom Smith on stage, and I was honored and delighted by Mary's willingness to pitch in and do rather more piano than she had originally agreed to. This was also the first time I got to sing with Judi, and have an entire concert set signed by her. The way she signs "Wicked Girls" is...magic. It's just magic.

As always: "Still Catch the Tide" is on Stars Fall Home. "The Black Death," "What A Woman's For," "Another Mad Science Love Song," "Dear Gina," and "Silent Hill" are on Red Roses and Dead Things. "Counting Crows," "The Ghost of Lilly Kane," "Mother of the Crows," "My Story Is Not Done," and "Wicked Girls" will be on Wicked Girls.

This was a great set; thanks to everyone who was there, to Marcon for having me, and to Kate, for running the merchandise table with grace and aplomb.

See you next con!

Neither can I!
"Counting Crows," "The Ghost of Lilly Kane," "Mother of the Crows," "My Story Is Not Done," and "Wicked Girls" will be on Wicked Girls (good luck guessing which ones).
I don't understand what I am supposed to guess. Are you not declaring that all of them will be on the album? Am I supposed to guess which wicked girls are...some-verbed?
You're supposed to guess that I use a template for these things, and was too tired to remember to clip the coy little "neener-neener" from before I was admitting what tracks were going on the album.
Oooooh. I'm looking forward to hearing the Lilly Kane song on the new album!
It is SO AWESOME.

It was a fantastic concert and it was great to finally meet you! Boo to being stranded in Chicago. No lyric link for "In the foam"? I was hoping to point a friend toward it.
Not yet—I've been sort of sucking at keeping the songbook up to date (I'm working on it). I'll be emailing you super-shortly about dressmaking!
Not a surprise given how busy you are, but the song fits her journey at the moment. As for dressmaking, *squee!* send the email to textileowl(at)gmail(dot)com if you haven't yet sent it. I'll be watching for it with excitement.
I have emailed!
Thank you so much for letting me sign and sing with you! (And for the chocolate brownies and cupcakes, too.) I had a wonderful time.

And I was very pleased that this version of "Wicked Girls" was legato enough that I *could* keep up; the mix I have been practicing with was far, far too fast to do well.

I can hardly wait until OVFF when I can get my own copy of Wicked Girls.
Thank YOU for signing with me! This was the first time a) you signed a whole concert for me, and b) I got to share a stage with Tom Smith. MADE OF WIN.

You know, if you wanted to do a "music video" for "Wicked Girls Saving Ourselves," signing to the finished track, ala those lovely JoCo videos, I'd be totally happy to swap you for an album... ;)
I'd pay good money for that....
Get me a copy of the finished track so I can be sure of keeping up and doing it well. I wasn't able to keep up with the quick track I'd been practicing with before the con, but was with the on-stage version.

As I get to know the song really well, I can get faster and keep up, and the quality will improve. (This was sooo true of Tom's B-5 song, and "Mad Science Love Song".) Practice makes perfect, and all of that!

Then, I need someone with a digital recorder to get me signing as the music plays. (Maybe blackpalidin, at ConFluence in July? ) You can check it out to see if you like the end result.

Rock on!
I'm really starting to enjoy "Dear Gina". That and Wicked Girls are two of my faves.
Awesome.
It was a pleasure seeing you in concert for the first time. I learned a lot from the Zombie Apocalypse panel, too. You made me realize I am woefully unprepared for any sort of pandemic.
Thank you so much for coming! It was really awesome to have everyone there. :)
When I posted my con report, I had two people invite me to come to their home/group when the zombies rise. Now THAT'S friendship!

(I immediately began quizzing them both about their weapons caches)

I have limited firearms skills, but I know primitive camping, camp management and sanitation, and first aid. I'll be the one keeping us all from dying of dysentery several weeks into the outbreak.

Allow me to join the crowd wanting to pre-order Wicked Girls.
As soon as pre-orders open, I promise, you'll know.

One seriously hopes! I've just emailed Kristoph to check on statuses, and I'm about to jab my cover artist with a sharp, sharp stick.

Love and love and love,
