I am absolutely delighted to announce the cover release for Nebelbann, the German edition of A Local Habitation. ("Nebelbann" means, roughly, "mist-spell" or "mist-ban." It's a really spiffy compound word, and I'm thrilled.) This is being released by Egmont, my German publisher, and the cover design was done by the artist who designed the cover of Winterfluch.
Behold the pretty:
It's so different from my US covers, and so pretty, that I honestly couldn't be happier. I'm really happy.
I missed the blue eyes as well! Doh! Thought she was brown-eyed for some reason... (Maybe because the US covers don't really show eye color much?) And tending to look more grouchy. >_> It's the lack of snark in the expression that got me! *grin*
I don't understand why you think it wouldn't be Toby?
Toby does have brown hair, and although she describes herself as more human-looking than a pureblood, she's still *fae*. In terms of the Tobyverse that still pretty much means "prettier than full-blooded humans". :)
(Edit:) I think people get fooled by Toby's perception of herself-- she's always comparing herself to the OMG-drop-dead purebloods, so *she* thinks she's nothing special in the looks department. But in that, as in a lot of things, she's not a reliable narrator. We humans wouldn't see her as plain-looking. (Neither do some purebloods. Ahem.)

She's not ugly. She doesn't wear much makeup, as a rule, but she's not unfortunate-looking, and the coloring of that model is completely accurate.

You're probably right, too, about her self-perception coloring how readers may think of her.
