The Hugo voting packet is being assembled, and they want items from the Campbell nominees to allow voters to make a more informed choice. Since I want the tiara, I naturally want to put my best foot (and chainsaw) forward. We're submitting the first four chapters of Rosemary and Rue—what else should go in?
Honestly, send something from Feed if you can swing it. I think it's an even better representation of your talent than Rosemary and Rue. And I wouldn't suggest it if I didn't mean it. :>
I concur, if it is elgible. I loved Rosemary and Rue, but FEED I want to marry and settle down with and have a house with a picket fence and alien plants in the back yard and I'll cook like Betty Crocker and look like Donna Reed and... I think you get the picture.
It grabs from the very beginning. I read it yesterday while eating sushi. I read it while sitting at the park watching baby goslings while recovering from being stood up for a date, and it was so good that I was mostly okay that I had been stood up for the date. I'll stop babbling now.
I'm elbows deep in FEED right now (it's so good, ya'll!) so that's all I have on my brain, but I did read " Dying With Her Cheerpants On" the other day, and I loved it. I thought it captured you very well.
"Dying With Her Cheerpants On" made me cry at the end for just how wonderfully brave and dedicated and terrible those girls were. *hugs them*
"Anthony's Vampire". I gave that one to a friend who is big into horror, and said 'here, this is creepy, you'll like it.' They read it and went 'Jesus, that was creepy. Reminded me of that song you sent me with Gina.' Then I went :D a lot.
If you're going to send any of Sparrow Hill Road, I'd favor "Dead Man's Party" as the most stand-alone of the currently published four.
A cartoon in which you introduce yourself. (This will show them you are multi-talented and deserve extra consideration)
An assortment of stories from your blog, lightly edited and presented as a collection of short stories. (This will make them feel they know you, and everyone likes to vote for their friends...)
A downloadable MP3 of you telling your 'Microwave' story. (This will make them laugh and make it impossible for them to forget who you are when they get around to voting. It will also make them want to hear your acceptance speech more than anyone else's)
Okay, I want to know where everyone is getting their copy of Feed. It is so very, bitterly unfair that I do not have mine yet. Quite wrong.
I concur with everyone that you should ask Orbit if you can submit material from that book as well as R&R asap. It's in both publishers' interests to cooperate. Let's face it, if you win, you're their Hugo/Campbell Award winning author. Can't go wrong with that.

I'm wishing "Everglades" would be allowed, though I'm suspecting not? Does it have to be published by a certain date?
"Lost".
The spell casting scene from ALH.
"Inspirations."
A good mix of fantasy and horror would be great, to show that you can do both. So probably a section of Feed too.

If they cry, they'll remember you as a powerful writer. And most people do cry for that one.

Tell Laura I Love Her Of the four "Sparrow Hill Road" stories out so far, I think it stands alone the best.

(I also agree with sending in Feed but I haven't read it yet, so my opinion there is based on other comments.)
