Happy Alice-versary.

One year ago today, I flew home from Seattle with a tiny, traumatized, rather pissed-off bundle of fuzzy blue and white puff stuffed into a bright pink soft-sided cat carrier.

One year ago today, I released the piece of puff into my bedroom, where it looked around, jumped onto the bed, curled itself into a comfortable ball of puffiness, and essentially said "This will do, monkey."

One year ago today, Alice Price-Healy Little Liddel Abernathy McGuire officially joined my family. And it seems like she's been with us forever, and it seems like she's been with us for five minutes, tops. I remember when her name was longer than she was! Now she's the length of Amy's leg, and making great strides toward being the length of my leg. She's like one of those magical grow-critters—the ones that swell to a hundred times their original size when submerged in water (and maybe this explains her passionate love for hanging out in the bathtub, water bowl, and toilet). She's immensely puffy, and sweet, and cuddly, and funny, and wonderful.

She's just wonderful.

I remain so grateful to Betsy for letting me have her, because she is one of the best cats I have ever owned. She and Lilly are a joy both together and apart, and Alice is a constant ball of playful, prim, perfect delight.

The Maine Coon. Because sometimes, you just need more to love.

Yay! Happy Kitty Day!
Thank you!
Delightful!

It takes a few years for Maine Coons to reach full size. Cleo isn’t so much a lapcat as a leg cat; my lap isn’t really big enough to be comfortable, but when I prop my legs up on the coffee table, she likes to stretch out all the way from my groin to my ankles to show off how long she is.
I have been warned about the growth curve, and eagerly anticipate the day when I can ride Alice around the house like a pony.
When he was younger, Tally would lay on his belly, with his back legs splayed out behind him and his front stretched out as far as he could. I measured him one day - about 36" end to end.

And he's considered on the smallish side for a Maine Coon, only weighing in at about 16#.

Wishing you and Alice (and Lilly too) many years of fuzzy joy together.
KITTY.

Thank you!
And she never has to worry about waking up with a bad hair day.

My dear, you do not own cats...cats own you. Silly human.

This is especially so for Maine Coons.
Sad but true. Allow me my delusions.
I loved the way you described your furfolk on your website--they sound like real loves. I miss cats, but my husband's allergies to them are even worse than mine. I adore Maine Coons, but longhairs especially set me off. Grew up with a variety of domestic shorthairs and two sealpoint Siamese. Mithril, my only cat as an adult was wearing a grey tuxedo with socks and ascot of white. She was with me 20 years and a bit.
They're good girls, and I love them dearly.

Twenty years is a very good time, for a cat.
Happy Alice's Day! A toast to your junior feline overseer; long may she reign in her kingdom.

AngelVixen :-)
She reigns with a firm and puffy paw.
"The Maine Coon. Because sometimes, you just need more to love."

And sometimes, you just NEED seven inch alligator lizards brought into the house.
I'm pretty sure the lizard brought itself. Alice just brought it to me.
A very happy Alice-versary to you!
Thank you!
aww kittie love ^-^

It's a surprise to non-cat people, that's for sure. Cats rule.

Thank you, thank you!
Cats rock.
And I love how they're able of taking over whole households with their so-called-owners (slaves) thinking they're in control. lol
My girls are definitely clear on who's in charge (and it's not me).
wow. i can't believe it's been a year already ... time sure does fly!
Doesn't it just?
I'm now picturing Alice at a hundred times her normal size (well, maybe a thousand) rampaging through the city streets.
...that would be AWESOME.
Yay Alice! More pictures please!
As soon as I figure out how to make the camera go.
Am I allowed to be amused that it is exactly one month after Vincent's birthday?

Speaking of which, I wonder if she is bigger than he is....
Weight, no, length, almost certainly.
