Rising countdown: fifty days.

We are now fifty days out from the release of Feed [Amazon]|[Mysterious Galaxy], book one of the Newsflesh trilogy, and my first book writing as Mira Grant. It's my third novel, but thanks to the fact that it's a new genre, a new series, and a new pseudonym, it's managing to feel like my first. Because I needed an extra dose of crazy around here, right?

More seriously, I am, in order, excited, elated, and scared out of my tiny blonde head. I have a better idea of how this game works than I did when I was preparing for the release of Rosemary and Rue [Amazon]|[Mysterious Galaxy], but in some ways, that just makes it more paralyzing—I know what can go right, and I also know what can go wrong. "Mira Grant" may be an open pseudonym, but the genre jump means I'm going to be getting placed in front of an awful lot of new readers, and I wind up praying they'll like me all over again.

Tara has finished the graphic design for MiraGrant.com, and Chris is hard at work getting the CSS we use for my regular site re-skinned to work with the new design. Because I am me, the content will start going live about ten minutes after he gives me the login information. My publisher is one hundred percent behind me, and early reviews are looking good. I still live in fear...but then, fear seems to be my primary motivator, so why change what works?

Fifty days until I destroy the world.

When will you rise?

The real site will be going live soon.
This is so exciting.
Yes. :)
I really can't wait to go buy Feed.

And I can't find your email address, it's why I haven't emailed you, btw. (Reformats. Fun things, no?)
Is okay. Also, remember that my website has a link that will email me.
So - are you going to get this cake for the launch party?

BTW - congratulations!
No.

No, I will not.

Also? AIIIIGH.
You know, I was getting kind of "overwhelmed" and "bored" with the zombie craze over the last couple of years and feeling it needed to stop or take a break or something. And then I started "Feed" and I'm a hundred pages into it and it's totally renewed and refreshed my interest in the dead rising! The characters are fun and original, definitely people I can personally relate to, and with strong backgrounds and the book has barely started. So very impressed so far.

Hope that makes you a little less crazy :-)
YAY!

See, people occasionally ask why I "decided" to write a zombie trilogy. And I look at them oddly and ask when the hell I got to start "deciding" anything about what I wrote.

Fifty days. Wow. 'Bout damn time. Also, impossibly soon.
We need to chat political campaign buttons.
As a much bigger fan of zombies and dystopias in general than urban fantasy on the whole, I promise you I will pimp your new project like nobody's business. *salutes*
Woo!
That blood spatter splash page is gorgeous.
Tara does outstanding work.
Yes! Book ordered, request for Kindle version submitted :)
Glee!
I haven't gotten to read my ARC yet -- in the middle of another book.

But the cover design is AWESOME. I have regular moments in my day where I think about the cover, and smile. It's that awesome.
Didn't they do an incredible job with that cover? I want it as a poster.
*clapping hands and giggling like a schoolgirl*
*me, too*
Both my husband and I are buying extra copies to give as gifts.
We like this book that much, and know our geek friends will too.

On a side note, I was coming down with a cold, and when I told my hunny about it, he said, "Are you sure it's not viral-amplification?"
I think he was slightly disappointed that it wasn't.
I was *not* disappointed. I have just learned that you can never be too careful. ;)

Bah, they're going to love it. You're a fantastic author, just relax.
I am SO STOKED for release day.
I'm just twitchy and insane. Which is really no surprise to anyone.
Here, distract yourself with deep-sea gang wars!

...whoa.
Glee!
Hee. :)
The last good zombie book I read was World War Z. I'm looking forward to yours.
Oh, good.
Would it be an imposition if I sent you a short story to read or posted it on blog?
Um...it really depends on what it is? I don't have time to offer critique, and I'm not allowed to critique (or acknowledge the existence of) derivative works.
