1 day to book release.

And now we reach the end of our countdown to the release of A Local Habitation [Amazon]|[Mysterious Galaxy]; it comes out tomorrow, and I don't feel like going into negative numbers. ("Reason -6 why I am getting really tired of this game...") One more day. One more day before the sky falls on my head and I suddenly have to admit that book two is actually out.

Aigh.

On the plus side, this means that as of tomorrow, I can start going crazy over different things. You know, things like "do people like the book?", "will people like book three?", and "will I be the top-selling paperback at Borderlands for the month of March?" (Hint on that last one: they do mail order, they'll have signed copies, and I would really appreciate it if you could order from them if you wanted a signed and personalized book but can't get to any of my signing events.) I can also resume going crazy over the process of writing book five, The Brightest Fell, which is kicking my ass in the most delightful of ways. Seriously, this book is like "no, you don't know what's going on, now shut up and sit down." If I don't wear my seat belt, I may go through the front windshield of the book the next time it hits the brakes. It's very odd, but sort of awesome.

Amy the Fiddler arrives tonight, fresh from the wilds of Alabama, where she's been staying with my Halloween Family for a week. I envy her immensely, but I'll forgive her instantly, because it means I get an Amy, and I really need an Amy right now.

In other news, I have uploaded a bunch of new strips to the "With Friends Like These..." strip gallery, and will continue updating it as I get them re-sized for easy viewing. We're actually moving into the ones where the art isn't quite so primitive. Yay!

And now we must rinse.

Mine just shipped from Amazon, I'm hoping it will sneak in a bit early tonight.

And I have to note that it's extremely unfair that the places people have been finding them out up to a week early aren't any of the bookstores that are, you know, local to the author...'cause I've been looking! ;-)
Huh, really? Because the Borders on King Street in SF has them, and has for a week now...

It's awesome!
Woke up to this subject line in my inbox this morning: "A New Release You'll Love By Seanan McGuire" with a picture, blurb and link inside. Borders knows me well! (actually already picked it up at B&N last week...:D )
I still haven't gotten that e-mail! I bought the first book from Borders, so I have been waiting for it ever since I randomly got an e-mail about Amber Benson's new book. Maybe I forgot to use my Borders Rewards card when I bought it?

Happy day-before-release day! I don't know whether this will amuse or horrify you (truth to tell, I'm still working out my own amused-to-horrified ratio), but I give you . . . My Little Ponies singing songs from "Dreamgirls" and "Wicked":

...

Well, okay, then.

Here's another adoring review of Rosemary and Rue. From the icon, I figure she's definitely in the target demographic.

Glee. :)
Ebook date has been moved to March 9. This means I must try to get to actual bookstore, 'cause I think I might try to jumpstart the apocalpse if I have to wait another week. I am not a patient waiter.
I'm sorry. :( I don't know why that is.

Is that http://www.borderlands-books.com/ -- I can't seem to get their online catalog to show? I'll try again later (I don't see whether they do international mail order, or if so what their postage and timescales are). Of course, if you'll have some singed at Consonance and can send one back with Magician that will work as well...
I'm not sure they have an online catalog, but you can also email them and ask. I don't do ANY direct sales, so I won't have any at Consonance.
Just about Died laughing at Toby's "Morning after the night before" reaction... And the note T left her!! BWAHAHAHAAA!!
I have a copy in my hot little hands, since I found it in a Borders today...but since we gave away our copy of Rosemary and Rue I had to buy a copy of that one too. So now I'm rereading R&R before I read the 2nd book
YAY!

See, that's the kind of purchase I approve of most heartily. ;)
It should be on its way to our house any moment now. Since I have a horrible memory for things that happen in books, I think I will reread Rosemary and Rue first. Oh no, such torture! :D Just kidding, just kidding. Really looking forward to rereading/reading about Toby again!
Yay!
My local bookstore employees are as eagerly awaiting their shipment of ALH -- buuuuut that may be because they've seen me in there every day, beelining for the SciFi/Fantasy section, and then leaving, tail between my legs...

AngelVixen :-)
Hee!
My college bookstore did not have it, did not have it on order (though they might be now that I inquired about it) but they did have a copy of Rosemary and Rue. Since their SF/Fantasy section is only 3 shelves by 4 shelves, that is kinda impressive.

Sadly, won't get back here anytime soon, so can't have them order it for me.

Alas. :(
Alrighty, just ordered it from Amazon, and picked up the three piece by Anton Strout and a couple more by Lee Martinez. Should get them in time for when I go out of town next week for a week of Check Cashing audits in Calhoun, Georgia. Those books and a good bottle of Scotch should get me help me pass the time that week.
Woo!
*massivesquee*

The BookGoddess won't let me buy it yet because it has a street date so I can't buy it early, BUT I have petted my copy of A Local Habitation and tomorrow when I come in to work at the bookstore I can buy it. YAY!

And in addition, BookGoddess says that having a street date means you are really coming up in the book world, congratulations!
I'm going to get a copy Thursday so I can read it at Consonance (and get it signed). If I buy it sooner I will read it sooner and I have homework due this week.

BTW...on your strip#25 the link for a larger copy brings up an ad, and not--alas--a larger copy.

There are some of those strips I don't remember reading, so that was awesome!

Lola
That makes sense.

Thanks for letting me know about #25. I've fixed the link.
sadly Amazon uk believe the release date to be the 8th of April and won't be shipping my copy out until the 9th 8-(=
Yeah, that's the import date, I'm afraid. :(

Oh, lovely. :) Thank you for letting me know. (Now if I can just win that Campbell Award...)
