It's a movie! Yeah, we're gonna make a movie!

I'm bored, and this is dangerous. So...

Cast your movie version of Rosemary and Rue! Tell me who you'd pick to play the major roles, and why. The cast list I find the most utterly delightful will win a signed ARC of A Local Habitation.

To get you started, here are some main characters to consider:

* October "Toby" Daye
* Sylvester and Simon Torquill
* Devin
* Dare
* Tybalt
* Connor O'Dell
* Danny
* Luna Torquill
* Rayseline Torquill

Game on!

ETA: ...and a winner has been chosen. Feel free to keep on casting, though, this is hysterical!

Since I pay next to no attention to current movie stars, I shall instead ponder the idea of a Bollywood musical version of Rosemary and Rue, or perhaps an all muppet cast.
Now I can't un-see Miss Piggy....
Miss Piggy as the Winterrose!
I'm going to be ordering 'Rosemary and Rue' this weekend from Amazon, and NOW I'm gonna be reading it with THAT in mind... JUST so you know... :P
LOL

Actually she'd be good as the Mad Queen, too.
I can't think of ANY suitable muppet for Toby. In fact, there aren't enough female muppets to go around. There are, however, some wonderfully terrible other casting possibilities:

Kermit and Miss Piggy, as Sylvester & Luna

Prairie Dawn, as Rayseline

Gonzo, as Tybalt

Ernie, as Devin

Fozzie, as Connor

Abby Cadabby, as Dare

Roosevelt Franklin, as Manuel

Menohmenoh Guy, as Danny (You were thinking "Animal", weren't you?)

Sam the Eagle, as Winterrose

Scooter, as Quentin

Beeker, as Spike

Oscar the Luidaeg

Sweetums, as the Redcap

An Anything Muppet, as the Doppelganger

Elmo, as Ross (so we can watch him die painfully)

Statler & Waldorf, as Safeway co-managers
See, at that point you go classic Muppet Show and cast Kristen Bell as Toby with an all-Muppet supporting cast. Including potential love interests.
Exactly. Clearly I'm not the only one who immediately thought of the Muppet Show "Alice in Wonderland" as precedent. (And there would have to be musical numbers, of course.)
That's better than anything I could come up with.
