Valentine's ARC giveaway!

To celebrate Valentine's Day (and the excuse that it provides—I might as well be celebrating Champion Crab Races Day on the 18th), I've decided to do something truly awesome: a three stage ARC giveaway. Yes! Three ARCs of A Local Habitation will be awarded to three lucky entries over the course of the next week!

Here's how it works:

1. Comment on this entry telling me who your favorite character in Toby's world is, and why. Be as detailed as you want. (Yes, technically, this does make the contest open only to those who've read Rosemary and Rue. As this is a sequel, I don't feel bad about that.)
2. ...that's all, actually. Your part in things is now done.

I will select winners via random number draw tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday. All winners will be selected at noon PST. All winners must contact me via my website "contact" link before eight PM PST on Sunday, or another winner will be selected, and I will shake my head in sorrow.

Game on!

The Luidaeg, because she is grouchy and terrifying and vindictive. I likes it. Not that I don't dig Tybalt, but I'm curious about my predictions coming true- then I'll make him my favorite. :)
I think Tybalt is intriguing and just downright cool. I think that, despite his professed dislike/not caring one way or the other about Toby, there is something there that belies his words. It might be a hidden agenda, or it might be some history that we aren't made aware of yet, or it might be something else entirely, but I think it'll be really interesting when/if it ever does come to light.
Tybalt... for all the reasons other people have given, but even more so for how badly I think Toby misjudges him.
/squeaking in before the deadline?

Other than Toby herself, who I love? Definitely definitely the rose goblins. I'll give you more reasons later (sort of in the middle of a re-read right now), but they're this perfect blend of cat and fae that makes me laugh and grin and say 'yep, that's a cat, faerie or no'.

If you watn an actual named character, probably Tybalt or the Luidaeg, both of whom I'm desperate to learn more about in Toby's world.
Argh, must I choose?!?

I'm going to have to go with the Rose Goblin. *love*
I had a fond spot for the Rose Goblins as cute and unusual creatures that had a lot of character.
The one I haven't met yet. :)
Much as I like and admire Toby, I think my favorite character is Tybalt. I find him interesting and intriguing. Plus, I just finished reading Catfantastic IV* which has Tybalt's Tale by India Edgehill in it. Can't help but wonder if the two Tybalt's might be related.

*Amazing what forgotten tomes will be excavated when one cleans out their car.
I rather liked the Luidaeg. She had a certain sense of pride.
lacey and cagney!!! you have to appreciate all that personality of lacey and cagney. you can see them meowing at toby for food.
Loaned my copy of R&R to my mother, so am flying blind. Besides Toby, whose personality I enjoy a great deal, I really liked the young girl who worked and fought with her, but whose name escapes me totally.
If I absolutely have to pick one favorite character (which is hard), I think I vote for Tybalt, King of Cats. Toby herself is immensely interesting, but Tybalt is just so comfortable with himself (in all his impishness) that he's hard to resist.
Tybalt, King of the Cait Sidhe

He's mysterious, and has his own agenda, and helpful when he shouldn't be, and not helpful and snarky, and really, he's a cat.
Why do you make me pick one!!!!

I'd have to go with Toby herself, because I know more about her than anyone else. But all the characters are well thought out, and enjoyable, and they all feel real.
Tybalt. No reason.
Tybalt is my favorite character. He's the most intriguing of the characters. Seems like he has a crush on Toby, or really likes her. But like most cats, wouldn't admit it if it killed him;)
Not favourite, necessarily, but one I'd like to hear more backstory from, is Lady (Lady? Countess? Baroness? I don't have the book handy.) Evening Winterrose. She sounds like a most frightening friend and patron to have - I'd love to hear more about her history with Toby.

I really, really, really like the rose demon goblin. It's so spiky and adorable! How can you not love something that can probably imitate a rattlesnake without even trying hard? All it needs to do is lay its ears back, his, and shake.

I blame Nick for that.
My favorite character is Tybalt. I love the tension between him and Toby, Tybalt's sarcasm, the arrogance with which he just appears at whim, and the control he takes in any situation. He's just what I would expect a King of Cats to be: selfish, self-centered, contemptuous of his lessers, intrigued by anything interesting (whether to eat or play with), and wary of threats to his personal happiness.

I think that's why he holds Toby at claw's-length--he suspects that, if he let her, she'd undo his peace of mind so thoroughly he'd never get it back. If she hasn't done so already!
I'll have to go with Tybalt, for pretty much what everyone said.
Toby herself! I love ass kicking heroines!
