Valentine's ARC giveaway!

To celebrate Valentine's Day (and the excuse that it provides—I might as well be celebrating Champion Crab Races Day on the 18th), I've decided to do something truly awesome: a three stage ARC giveaway. Yes! Three ARCs of A Local Habitation will be awarded to three lucky entries over the course of the next week!

Here's how it works:

1. Comment on this entry telling me who your favorite character in Toby's world is, and why. Be as detailed as you want. (Yes, technically, this does make the contest open only to those who've read Rosemary and Rue. As this is a sequel, I don't feel bad about that.)
2. ...that's all, actually. Your part in things is now done.

I will select winners via random number draw tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday. All winners will be selected at noon PST. All winners must contact me via my website "contact" link before eight PM PST on Sunday, or another winner will be selected, and I will shake my head in sorrow.

Game on!

Dare with her bravado and the interactions between her and her brother Manuel.
I have many characters that I like; I've always been horrible about picking a favorite anything.

I like Lily a great deal; that part of the story always told so vividly for me I felt that I could picture everything, down to the color of the shadows. She has a very...knowing...way about her, I think, and it's clear she has a very old story. Maybe not as old as The Luidaeg, but old.

Speaking of which, I would say The Luidaeg is a close second. I enjoy that sort of character immensely.
My favorite character is Toby she has endured a lot but never loses strength, very strong and independent character. Also i really like Tybalt, i agree with previous entries that he's the man to watch! :)
My favorite character is Tybalt. I like him mostly because of his ego. I'm a huge fan of assholes just because I think they're funny and so full of themselves.
I'm going with Spike. Maybe she/he/it can help with MY roses, which need serious aid and assistance.
Oooo... that's tough. I almost want to say Toby because I'm madly in love with her and she's amazing, but my favourite would have to be Tybalt. I don't know why, I just love that crazy cat. I love inhuman characters like that, and he is just... There aren't words for how much I love him, or why. So.
Have to agree with brimaresh - Countess Evening Winterose rocks - so very 'sweetie darling', she lives on forever, she sets things in motion that rock a lot of worlds, and she's just so very very fae. Of course, Toby is great (sort of a give-in), but I'm dieing to meet her kid after all the drama. Most definitely looking forward to Local Habitation!
Toby Daye herself. Tybalt's a close second, and I have this vague notion they will get into some snogging later on, but Toby is definitely my favorite character. Even if she does sometimes need to be thwacked with the idea that not everyone in the world hates her for having been turned into a fish for ten years. (Seriously, baby, some people might not forgive that, but they are UNREASONABLE people.)
ugh... decisions, decisions... I could give a list now but phew, better not. LOL

Tybalt
because he's a pain in the a** but not just your simple-everyday-pain-in-the-a**, more complex than that. If that makes sense. :)

And I just have to say that I found the Rose Goblin adorable.

And since I'm not sure if this is for overseas people, too - yeah, i'm overseas, I'm in Switzerland and I'd understand if the contest doesn't include overseas due to postage and all that.
I love Spike the rose goblin, because I think my big cat wants to be a rosebush.

But I love Selkie Connor because I have a deep and abiding fondness for selkies, and always like to see them show up. :D
This is a difficult question, because I've only read it twice so far. I think I'll need to schedule another read before I plow into ALH. Rose Goblin was the first thing that came to mind, but I think I have a crush on Tybalt.
Hm. I think my favorite is Lily. Because she acts as a supporting but completely important character, I want to know more about her--it seems like there's a lot more to know!
Oh, geez. I'm gonna have to call it a tie between Toby and Tybalt, especially when they're together, I love me some snark |D

But if I could, I'd definitely have a Rose Goblin.
oh, such a difficult question... I like a lot of the characters, for different reasons. For just plain cute, I'll go with Spike the rose goblin - he seems to sum up the nature of many of my favorite people: lovable, yet dangerously prickly. Handle with care ;)
My favorite character is Tybalt, because he intrigues me. Also, kitty.
I love everyone, but I seriously love Toby's cats. SERIOUS LOVE HERE. They remind me of all the stories about your cats, and I think they're just generally amazing overall.
Tybalt--I mean, CAT. Everything you wrote about him rang true to me. And I bought an art card with him--which should be here this week! Yea!

Lola
While I do find tybalt intriguing, I'm definitely going to have to go with Toby. Her personality just rings so true to me. Plus, as stated above, how many people can come back from being a fishie so well? ;)
There are so many characters I love, I don't like to pick one. But I'm going to vote for Spike the rose-goblin, because he's such a neat idea, and he stands for the originality and detail of the world, which is what I really love about the book.
Tybalt. The whole idea of the Cait Sidhe just tickled me. I think... especially because I am familiar with so many of the Sidhe stories, and this was something NEW, but something that felt right and FIT with all the stories I'd had. I am really hoping there will be more of Tybalt and the Cait Sidhe in future stories.
Gee, can I pick the carp? because Toby dealing with being a carp was amazingly, subtly, well done.

No? The I'm going with the cab driver (his name escapes me at the moment) because that's probably who I'd be in that universe :)
Oh, dear. Shall I join the chorus singing Tybalt's praises? He got so many of the best lines that it would be hard not to adore him. Sylvester, (seemingly) one of the few genuinely nice faerie we've met so far? Toby herself for being generally awesome?

I'll go for Rayseline, who will almost have to be one of the more complex characters in an incredibly complex society. Her abduction started the story, her imprisonment and subsequent warping is haunting Toby yet, and finding out precisely what the frell happened and how it can be fixed would seem to be too big a Macguffin not to have fun with. There. That's my answer.
Tybalt partly cuz he reminds me of so many cats in other stories that I love, you have taken the best qualities of all my favorite feline characters and rolled them into one. Can't wait to read more about him too.
Wow...I have to pick just one??

OK, I've pondered it and have discussed it with the local feline (Gavin, the white Manx, if that helps my chances!)...and I've gotta pick Toby herself. Why? She gets cats, she drives a VW and isn't afraid to be reckless when surprise passengers make that a necessity, and she's just DAMNED COOL...like I wanna be someday.

Very close seconds (yes, a three-way tie!) are Cagney, Lacey and Spike, the Rose Goblin.
Toby; other people have said it better than I could, but Toby is wonderful and absolutely my favourite.
