In honor of George Romero's birthday, I am giving away an ARC of Feed to one lucky commenter. This is a random draw giveaway. At noon Pacific tomorrow, I will use my magical random number generator and select a winner. They will then have until noon Pacific on Sunday to send me their mailing information (through my website), or I will pick another winner.
So please! Comment! Tell me your favorite thing about zombies, or why you want to read Feed, or what you'll do if you win, or whatever. (I mean, a comment beyond just "comment" is nice, but not strictly required.)
George Romero gave the world zombies. In honor of his birthday, so do I. Because zombies are love.
I'm not sure I have a favorite thing about zombies, but I have a favorite world authority on zombies (I wrote a song about her once).
Hmmm.

I take it back, I do have a favorite thing about zombies. As Our Hostess, you've seen this before, but the only place it's ever been posted online was in the comments on the other LJ way back when I wrote it, so here it is again for the benefit of the new gallery. [Explanation for said gallery: Seanan had just posted the lyrics to "Country Song", and I have the sometimes-dangerous knack for free-associating filk lyrics into existence given a sufficiently enticing prompt...say, "country songs and zombies".]
'Twas a gray April evening, on the streets of San Francisco; I ran into a blonde gal -- we were waiting for the BART; And as we sat there gazing down the tracks beside the platform, I remarked upon the emblem that she wore above her heart.
She said, "Yes, that's quite a chainsaw, and I'm not afraid to use it, For I am a pretty princess, and I bask in all things pink, And I'll gladly give a lesson in the art of killing zombies For a Diet Dr. Pepper," and she gave a friendly wink.
Well, I handed her a bottle, and she drained it in one swallow, Then she palmed a Luna bar, and took a single bite; And the platform went all quiet, a guitar riff twanged from nowhere, And she said, "The thing with zombies is you have to kill them right."
REFRAIN "You've got to know when to dust 'em, When to combust 'em, Which ones to dunk and drown, Which to behead; You never count your zombies in the middle of the slaughter; There'll be time enough for counting when the legion's dead."
"Now any zombie hunter knows the secret of survival Is knowing when to run away, and knowing when to fight; 'Cause sometimes there's too many, or else the script's been written, And that's the time to hedge your bets and pick another night."
Now, she might have gone on longer, but the BART pulled up before us, We got onto diff'rent cars; I haven't seen her since; But as the train got moving, I could hear a ghostly chorus With a chainsaw in the background, that I'll bet was set to "Mince".

Zombie Hunter S
words: John C. Bunnell ©2006
music: Kenny Rogers ("The Gambler")
'Twas a gray April evening, on the streets of San Francisco;
I ran into a blonde gal -- we were waiting for the BART;
And as we sat there gazing down the tracks beside the platform,
I remarked upon the emblem that she wore above her heart.
She said, "Yes, that's quite a chainsaw, and I'm not afraid to use it,
For I am a pretty princess, and I bask in all things pink,
And I'll gladly give a lesson in the art of killing zombies
For a Diet Dr. Pepper," and she gave a friendly wink.
Well, I handed her a bottle, and she drained it in one swallow,
Then she palmed a Luna bar, and took a single bite;
And the platform went all quiet, a guitar riff twanged from nowhere,
And she said, "The thing with zombies is you have to kill them right."
