In honor of George Romero's birthday, I am giving away an ARC of Feed to one lucky commenter. This is a random draw giveaway. At noon Pacific tomorrow, I will use my magical random number generator and select a winner. They will then have until noon Pacific on Sunday to send me their mailing information (through my website), or I will pick another winner.
So please! Comment! Tell me your favorite thing about zombies, or why you want to read Feed, or what you'll do if you win, or whatever. (I mean, a comment beyond just "comment" is nice, but not strictly required.)
George Romero gave the world zombies. In honor of his birthday, so do I. Because zombies are love.
My favourite thing about Zombies is probably the image of a zombie activist playing the guitar (it's embarrassing, he keeps loosing his fingers) courtesy of Terry Pratchett. And I want to read Feed because I do want to know more of the zombie genre, but find it too scary to watch (I was in Charlie Brooker's Dead Set as a zombie extra, but couldn't face watching the violence when it was aired).
1) My favorite thing about zombies is that there are so many different kinds, but in the end, all they wanna do is eat your brains. They're not unreasonable. I mean, no one's gonna eat your eays.
2) I want to read Feed because you wrote it.
3) If I win, I will jump up and down shrieking with glee. Then share my copy with beckyh2112 because I love her. But after I read it.
I wish I had realised it was George Romero's birthday sooner. I would have worn my zombie shoes out somewhere in honour of it. I'm trying to teach my kid that zombies say, "braaaains" but I don't have a picture of a zombie to use as a teaching aid so it's going slowly!
There are really only 3 important holidays during the year: 1. Halloween 2. Romero's B-Day 3. Fulci's B-Day All zombieliscious in their own special way!
The night before last, I had a dream where the world was essentially overrun with zombies, but I was catching the bus for university anyway (IRL, I already graduated though). I totally thought war between humans and zombies was over and everythig was back to normal with no repercussions. Silly dream me.
And yay for "Blew that Bitch Away." I listened to the Evil Dead soundtrack last night before going to bed. I feel like today should be a Shaun of teh Dead kind of day. Is that just me?
My favourite thing about zombies is that they periodically invade our world's cities without ever causing the zombie apocalypse. And I want to read Feed because it's also about blogging and viruses and I've never read a zombie novel before and want to start with the right one.
Well I am a young man, cut down in me blossom I married a young woman to comfort me home but she goes out and she leaves me, she cruelly deceives me, and eats people's brains as the streets she does roam
and it's oh dear I rue the day ever I married how I wish I was single again with their weepin' and wailin' and runnin' and screamin' from my lovely wife who keeps eating their brains
now my wife, every night, she goes out on the rantin' she's out on the town eating nothing but brains and the townsfolk, they're screamin', but me, I'm not leavin', 'cuz my zombie wife, well, she tore off me legs
so it's oh dear I rue the day ever I married how I wish I was single again, 'cuz my stumps, they be bleedin', the towies be screamin', my wife, she be cacklin' and eating their brains
I want to read Feed because I've been watching its genesis from back when it was Newsflesh, and everything I've read of yours has been gold anyway, so I can't wait to see how you tackle your favorite monster.
And in honor of Romero's birthday, my PCs are facing zombies tonight in gaming. They're not expecting them. But then, who really ever does? Save for people like us.
Zombies take a licking, and keep on kicking, or crawling, or whatever. I want to see a book in which there is an explanation of zombies beyond "Runaway! It's a zombie!"
There is maybe only one zombie movie I didn't like much, I Am Legend, and I'm not entirely sure that counts as a zombie movie since in the end there apparently was a cure.
I really like a comedic spin on zombies, I think that may be Piers Anthony's fault, but I do so love the pun laden Xanth novels. Zombie Land rocked and I can't wait for the sequel. Army of Darkness and Shawn of the Dead were good too.
Scary zombies are awesome too. I hadn't realized just how many zombie themed movies and books I've actually read. Even Robo Cop and Universal Soldier were zombies in their own way--re-animated dead guys. The Re-animator movies were fun too.
I would love to read Feed, getting a copy would be awesome. If I had more than four readers for my blog I'd offer to write an honest review, but I don't think four equals the population of Ohio. Either way I can't wait to read Feed.
I want to read Feed because you are the only person I've met who knows more about zombies than I do. You out-BS'ed me with the biology of your zombies while I was still dwelling on the "how best to smack'em in the head."

Heather
And they'll buy the book regardless of an ARC, but an ARC is way cool!

Happy birthday, George! If not for you, my husband and I would have never had this done:

So when they rise, they'll nom your head first.
Sadly. But at least I'll have Feed to remember you by!

Blurh LJ, eating the rest of my comment
Because zombies are coming, and one needs a guide to the coming rise. And sometimes Plants vs Zombies just doesn't cut it, alas.
