Alice meets SANTA.

Some of you may remember how last year I took my crazy little bluepoint princess, Lilly, to enjoy a memorable meeting with Santa Claus. (She was the first cat this particular pet store Santa had ever encountered "on the job." Interestingly, he declined to return to the store this year, forcing us to go elsewhere for our Yuletide cheer. I can't swear that this is because of my pointy little princess, but when the red velvet hat fits...)

Because I am an equal-opportunity torturer of my cats, I decided that this year, it was Alice's turn to go out and meet the big man. So I called my mother, slapped a temporary harness on my normally collar-free cat, and went haring off for a date with destiny...or at least, a date with the local pet store Santa who hadn't retired due to cat.

The proof is in the picture:

Alice was very well-behaved. She didn't claw, hiss, spit, bite, or try to get away, although she did sing opera to express her displeasure with the time spent in the carrier. (Much like Lilly, she calmed immediately once I got her out of the box and just held her.) This Santa was definitely happier about having a cat in his lap, and admired her at great length.

It occurs to me that last year, I took Lilly to see Santa, said jokingly that I hoped she hadn't wished for a pony, and wound up bringing home a Maine Coon.

I'm scared now.

Squee! She has FIGHTING PUMPKIN eyes!
That's how you know she's MY cat.
So, has Alice seen Lilo and Stitch yet?
Yes.

And she has a chainsaw.
We had pet photos with santa as a fundraiser for the local shelter. He had dogs and cats and ferrets and bunnies and a turtle an 3 happy grey rats!
Awwwwwww!
My my, she's a pretty lass. Getting quite big, too. Why, two or three more years and she might finally stop growing. ;)
Yeah, I keep telling people she's half-sized, and they keep reacting with disbelief. The fools.
Alice is a most elegant of lady kitties. Her mama must be proud. :D
I very much am. Especially when she's failing to maim Santa.
Okay, after seeing how pathetic that Santa looks, I've decided, I'll grow my beard out and be Santa next year. I just want to know, has there ever been a zombie Santa movie with undead elves and killer reindeer? If not, why?
No, but there's been a really awesome graphic novel, called The Last Christmas.
I'm not an expert on cat body language, but it does look to me like Alice is Not Happy. As in, "You have to sleep sometime, you know. I can wait." levels of unhappy.

I hope for your sake that I'm wrong.
That is exactly how I read her body language! She is sitting nicely on the weird bloke's lap "FOR NAU!" but will make her feelings known "LAITUR!" MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
For Alice, that's mostly "Mom, why are you doing this to me? Seriously, Mom? Am I in trouble? MOM MAKE HIM STOP TOUCHING MEEEEEEE."

I'm going to be in a lot more trouble for going to Seattle than I was for taking her to see Santa.
You plan to make Alice do this long-term?

Thaaaaaaaank you.
ALICE R PONEE!

P.S. Those lasers are fully charged and ready to fry you for subjecting her to this indignity! I had no idea that pet shops over there had Santas. I thought that we were overly soft on our pets in the UK with added anthropomorphism!
Lots of people taking getting their dog photographed with Santa Very Seriously Indeed. That's part of why I enjoy showing up with cats. The reactions are HYSTERICAL.
