Writers With Drinks!

I'm going to be appearing at Writers With Drinks this Saturday, and I need some help deciding what I should read. So—as is my wont—I turn to you. What do you think I should read?

Poll #1496260 Reading is hard, let's have strawberry ice cream.

What should I read?

"Lost."
5(5.8%)
"Dying With Her Cheer Pants On."
12(14.0%)
Chapter one of Feed.
35(40.7%)
"Velveteen vs. the Isley Crawfish Festival."
20(23.3%)
"A Citizen In Childhood's Country."
6(7.0%)
Nothing. Tell the microwave story instead.
6(7.0%)
None of the above (suggest in comments).
2(2.3%)

I need to decide by Friday, so as to have time to prepare my reading (or recitation). Sound off, and save me from my own wishy-washy tendencies!

*rimshot*

Thanks for the sound-off.

I have to go with the promotional value of Feed. Although I am curious about this microwave story.

Also, that Roisin Murphy song came up on Pandora a couple weeks ago!
It involves a lot of shouting and arm-flapping.

"Ticky box"! (Well, you didn't provide one so I provided my own...)

I would also go with the promotional value of 'Feed', and would also suggest something from ALH.

But I would love to hear the microwave story whenever I see you.

(BTW, have you decided whether you are coming to Van der Filk? I haven't seen a membership request yet, and the rates go up next Sunday, so if you still want to then drop me an email with your details and I'll get you registered before they go up.)
I can't do ALH, because I'm not certain everyone has read R&R—it's an accessibility thing.

Right now, I still don't know. Time is being very difficult.
Feed, for the reason already mentioned. Build the buzz!
Thanks, sweetie.
On commercial grounds I've voted FEED.

I am rather fond of Citizen in Childhood's Country though
I may well bring it, just in case it's a better fit for the mood of the evening. That's the hardest part to predict.
I am going to slowly die of curiosity about this "microwave story" now, you know...
Curiosity killed the cat. Satisfaction brought it back.
I think this depends largely on whether you want to do publicity (Feed), get the "Bitch! You made me cry!" reaction (A Citizen in Childhood's Country) or the "Half the audience just wet their pants" reaction (The microwave story).

I'd suggest bringing all three for mood purposes.
I think that may be the answer, yeah.
I know, everyone really wants to hear Feed or about microwaves, but for me, its all about Crustaceans.
Understandable!
I voted Feed for the aforementioned reason, but my second vote would definitely be A Citizen in Childhood's Country. Because, y'know, it's awesome and cry-worthy.
Awwwww, thanks.
I think a lot of it is going to depend on the mood, and whether you want to support that mood, change that mood, or shatter it completely.
So take the top three or four choices, and be ready to read what seems the best.
That's basically what I'm going to need to do, yeah.
Gee, maybe someday you should write the microwave story and submit it everywhere...?
Nah, it's funnier in person.

Feed for commercial reasons....but the microwave story and the Cheer Pants option are intriguing, as I know neither of them.
They're more on the comedy side of things. (And the microwave story is true.)
*sigh* wish I could go! I've been burgeoning with genre-mixing and zombie theory questions lately, and I know you probably have a thing or two to say on the topics.
Are you coming to the Borderlands potluck next Friday?

You should also tell the microwave story. Everyone needs to hear the microwave story. As many times as possible!
I don't think I get that much time, sadly.

I'm not familiar with all of the listed items, so I'm going to suggest something more general.

Make 'em laugh.
Good suggestion!
I voted for Vel, but my second choice is Feed if you want to generate buzz.
Thanks, hon.
I vote Feed, for two reasons: One, it'll create more buzz for the trilogy. Two, that's what I'd want to hear if I were able to go.
Rock on.
I voted A Citizen In Childhood's Country on the basis of it being the only one I've read... And it being awesome.

Man, why do I have to live in Arizona? Nothing interesting happens here.
Because they have really awesome lizards in Arizona. As a thought.

(Also, you can read "Velveteen vs. the Isley Crawfish Festival" on my website. Just look for the Velveteen menu under the Books dropdown.)
