A few bits and pieces for a Friday.

1. Remember that voting is still open for the second A Local Habitation ARC giveaway, and while there are a few clear favorites, it's still anybody's game. I'll announce the third giveaway as soon as I figure out exactly what it's going to be.

2. A Local Habitation gets a little closer every day, as this page on the Penguin Group website can attest. It's still weird and wonderful and a little terrifying to look at websites and go "wait, that's my book, I wrote that, oh whoa, that's Toby." I am assured this feeling will eventually pass. I'm...not sure I want it to.

3. If you want to see me compared to an Emma Frost-esque diamond golem, click here and join the giggling. I don't object to being a golem, or being made out of diamond, and I admit it, my productivity is occasionally terrifying even to me. I am also assured that this phase in my life will eventually pass. That idea scares me.

4. Things about this weekend that I'm really excited about: the first holiday party of the season. Getting more time to work on Blackout. The premiere of the Alice miniseries on Syfy. It's by the people who did Tin Man last year, and while it doesn't star Zooey Deschanel (a definite minus if you ask me), it looks absolutely incredible. Plus it has Connor from Primeval, and he is mad hot.

5. Matt Fraction has declared that Emma Frost is the love of Scott Summers's life. Matt Fraction is my new favorite person, at least for right now.

Tonight, I'm going out with my cousins to do something mysterious which required me to buy two rolls of quarters from the bank. I am wary but interested to learn what lies in store on the misty streets of San Francisco. Here's hoping you're planning for a wonderful weekend of your own, and feel free to let me know what you have going on!

I *am* planning a wonderful weekend!

I'm going to a partner-to-partner communications lecture (witness my geek self) as part of the launch of our local queer-and-trans women's sexual health center, then I'm going to a gallery show opening where some of my modeling work will be on display (Woot!) and then I'm going to my friends 40th birthday! :-D

And that's just tonight!

Tomorrow there is a femme community tea party in the afternoon and a burlesque show at night (held in an old cathedral, no less!)

And it just gets better from there! :-D

<*is seriously VIBRATING with excitement and had to share*>

- TTFN, :-D
- Amazon. :-D
Oh, that sounds like it was fantastic! I'm so glad you had an awesome weekend. :)

Arcade games?

(Mmm... Alameda pinball museum...)
We wound up going to a museum specializing in old coin-op games. I played Skee-Ball. It was awesome.
Re 2: I am betting the feeling of seeing slash written about your characters never gets old, though. I wonder when that will start happening... :)

Tonight San Francisco hosts the NaNoWriMo Thank God It's Over party, and as per tradition, I'm going to go to it :)
See, I fear the slash. The slash scares me.
Didn't say it was a good feeling...just that it never gets old :)
I get to work (whoo, at least four hours goes by fast when you spend all of it shelving books frantically) and then I'm going to Edmonton's TGIO party which promises to be awesome.
Woo!
It was, in fact, very fun and I won a messenger bag that I adore. It holds a lot of stuff!
Oh, yay!
Well, that explains why I've had so many links from your journal to mine.

Ask for a description, and you shall receive.

And I hope your productivity stays high.

I bring the locusts!
I am pining in advance for Alice since of course I'm going to be at a conference in Arizona (and I'm pretty sure they don't get the Syfy channel in the hotel, IIRC from previous years...all the nonsense of sorting out MST aside). Of course, conference at a resort in Arizona, so very painful. ;)

At least I have someone taping it for me and I will be getting it Dec 18th.

I hope it is as awesome as it looks. While I am not usually a cosplay sort of person, I keep having urges to make an Alice costume for next Halloween. And having done American McGee's Alice once already, well. Anyways. I digress.

Have fun with quarters! Quarters at least do not seem to imply strippers. Unless they are video game strippers.

...yeah, I think that's leftover cold medication talking.
It has been as awesome as it looked.

Seriously.

Wow.
Its dance performance time again at the studio I work and for once I actually get to just watch. Thank you insane working hours when choreography was getting rolling. I love performing don't get me wrong but sometimes it is nice to have a break.
Yay!
(blink) Sorry, I just had a moment wherein I imagined you cosplaying as Emma Frost.

I need to be alone for a bit, scuse me.
Okay!
