Things I did yesterday.

1. Sketched and started inking my third possible Borderlands bookmark. See, Borderlands Books in San Francisco does limited-edition bookmarks with interesting art on them, and—after my signing/book release party/circus sideshow earlier this month—they invited me to design one of the upcoming bookmarks. As is so often the case when I am paralyzed by choice, I said "screw it," and am doing multiple bookmark designs for them to choose from. The first one, involving clownfish mermaids, is completely done; the second, involving seahorse mermaids, is in rough pencils with some inks; now, so is the third, involving Allomai and a fuck-ton of ribbons. I find this soothing and infuriating and an excuse to buy more art supplies. Everybody wins.

2. Bought the new Kelley Armstrong book, Frostbitten. This was sort of a comedy of errors, since the guy at Borders hadn't put it on the shelves yet, but had put it on the "we're putting this on shelves" cart, which meant there were no copies in the back of the store. I eventually located the cart, thus locating my book, and money was exchanged, rather than bloodshed.

3. Read the new Kelley Armstrong book, Frostbitten. What? I read fast. Also, it was so awesome I couldn't put it down. I love Kelley Armstrong's work so much.

4. Watched the final episode of season three of Primeval, the second-to-last episode of season one of Warehouse 13, and two more of the audition episodes for the current season of So You Think You Can Dance. A few people have informed me that they don't believe I watch as much television as I say I do. To them I say: you're probably right. I think I watch substantially more.

5. Sort of accidentally knocked out a thousand words on Deadline, which will get included in the next word count post, because I'm feeling too lazy to bother with doing that much math right now.

How about you?

  1. Whined to myself on how long it takes a postcard to get from Los Angeles, CA to Finland or China. On average, about two weeks.
  2. Gazed at the moon through the very thin cloud cover. Contemplated writing something... contemplating setting up the laptop on a camping table so I could sit in the yard and stare at the moon while I wrote.
  3. Promptly came back inside, because my husband then arrived home and we got chatty.
  4. Tore apart a uselessly-short scarf, and used that yarn to get at least 12 inches crocheted onto a different still-too-short-but-not-as-short scarf. There is still yarn from the first scarf. It's a work in progress. The longer scarf is a dark red. The tacked-on-yarn is neon-rainbow. It's cute but extremely unlikely to sell. I don't care. I like making it.
  5. Finished entering my Jin-Roh music video to various anime conventions.
  6. Watched NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles. Boy, is NCIS-LA stupid. I'm still watching it, though.
  7. Found my prestamped blank postcards... from 1986. They're still good - I just have to add more postage to them for them to get delivered.
Sadly, the moon does not care when we whine. I'll be catching up with NCIS tonight.
when in a bookstore, I do check the carts and then rat through them to get what I want, but I am careful to make them tidy again, so the employees dont freak too much.

Nobody gets between the Book Weasel and her Prey.
So noted!
I find this soothing and infuriating and an excuse to buy more art supplies. Everybody wins.

That's how a lot of projects go for me, too *chuckle*. My husband doesn't understand how I keep winding up with so much yarn/calligraphy supplies/beads/etc., and it's because when I think of a particular project it usually requires something I don't have. Yet ;-). At least the craft pimps stores put out emails with percent off coupons most weeks :-P
I really appreciate being asked to do art to further my writing career, because inking is so very soothing to me.
Um, put in my application for uni degrees next year and consequently learnt that the campus after 10:00pm is a very weird and not entirely scary place to be.

Narrowly avoided an argument with a close friend about said trip to campus after 10:00pm.

Saw Up. In 3D. Wearing glasses over my glasses was weird.
Yay Up! That was a gorgeous film.
1)I confirmed that all sukkah bits are where they should be, but didn't build it yet, as it was horribly dark and about-to-be-storming looking. Yay for sukkah bits, fun holidays, and friends to celebrate with. :)

2)I started to turn the heel of my first ever sock. (Intimidating by reputation but not really all that tricky bit of knitting.)

3)I contemplated pattern choices for a certain stuffed fictional creature that will be made as soon as other bits of things are finished. I even have the yarn, in a lovely dark rose and gray.

4)I was polite at the American Dietetic Association.

I hope that in addition to being full of things that you day was a good one.

It was tolerable. Thank you for checking! :)
Eating fruity pebbles, transitioning off bed rest, wading through production e-mails. Making a list of books (a very long list) of fiction books I need to read, since I hardly ever read fiction anymore and almost exclusively read Judaic studies texts, teaching manuals and history books.
...wow. I would go mad if I stopped reading fiction. I bow before you.

1) Finished 'Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters' and reviewed same on my LJ.

2) Wrote a lengthy e-mail to the rest of my condo board as to why the radiators are Limited Common Elements and as such the Association should fix them. Said e-mail was then forwarded to our attorney for comment.

3) Ordered a ridiculously wonderful toy that will be the basis for a truly awesome Steampunk backpack time machine. Admitted same in public. Expressed my joy about this through interpretive dance and amused my rabbit.

4) Discovered that Martha Stewart is now "doing" Halloween. This involves glitter-covered skeletons. Wailed about this to everyone I know.

5) Had doughnuts for supper.
Wailing and donuts sounds like a good day to me.
1) Worked on a conference presentation regarding whether (or not) and HOW to disclose a disability and ask for employment related accommodations

2) Answered 30 emails, printed about a ream of documents to review/file

3) Drove across town in rush hour traffic to pick up husband's order at the beauty supply store (he's a hairstylist and makeup artist...yes, my hair looks FABULOUS most of the time!)

4) Arrived home, was closely trailed by one cat and the Corgi, took over meal prep/house prep tasks from hubby.

5) Sliced my right thumb open with a very sharp (Cutco!) knife...swore a lot, scared the cat and the dog.

6) Had hubby do a quick bandaging job....drove to ER (20 mi away) to get 6 stitches and an impressive bandage that covers my thumb and half my hand.

7) Missed dinner AND dinner guest but got bonus prize of updated tetanus shot at ER.

8) Drove back home in the rain at 10 PM...picked at leftovers from dinner. Avoided the green salsa that I was making when I cut myself.

9) Took pain meds, got ice pack and add'l pillow for hand...threw in the towel and went to bed.
...please do not cut your fingers off. Thank you kindly.

Got up, checked e-mail, performed usual morning ablutions, drove to work.
Created ppt for meeting, went to meeting, went to another meeting, went to another meeting.
Sent e-mails to various people around the country based on discussions in meetings.
Sent out meeting notifications for today's meetings.
Collaborated on creation of another ppt for today's meeting/telecon.
Arranged splinter meeting, to take place after regular meeting.
Engaged in several hallway conversations, setting expectations for upcoming meetings.
Drove home.
Had dinner with pagawne and my mother.
Washed dinner dishes.
Watched part of Ken Burns PBS series on National Parks. Glad I'm recording it, because it's the only way I can see it all.
Read some while conversing with mother. (My mom engages very like Lily, from the way you've talked about Lily. Conversation with her is not an option.)

That's about it. As you can see, I didn't write anything of general interest to humanity in all that. So you're way ahead of me.
Lilly engages. She just engages on a Siamese level, which is to say, I work for her exclusively.
Today I was entertained, because Biker Mama Rose, my coworker, was having Deep Thoughts at me about Rosemary and Rue, many of them about the uncomfortable and inhuman aspects of the faeries. We talked for quite some time about her thoughts on pureblood prejudices in particular. You would have found it awesome.
That rules.
1) Applied to things.

2) Mostly cleared out the pending queue for suggestions.
Yay!
Lay around most of the day forcing myself to drink enough fluids to flush out my kidney drain. Persuaded teenage son that it is so not a good idea to go out socialising when you have laryngitus and are too ill to cope with college, however bored and lonely you happen to feel. Regained the good graces of Mom's cat who was sulking at me for having been away in hospital.
Oh and I ordered Rosemary and Rue, and Grants Pass from my local bookshop. Upside I don't have to pay for delivery, downside, they aren't officially published in UK yet so I have to wait a few weeks.

Good on you, for all of these!
