Is there a meteorologist in the house?

I find myself in need of a meteorologist to assist me with...well, to assist me with things that I am not presently at liberty to discuss, but trust me, it'll be fun. I've already spoken to a climatologist about global warming and various other factors, but now? Now I need to construct a really awesome storm.

If you can help, or know someone who can, please drop me a line, either here or via the contact form on my website.

Thanks!

My husband used to be, but it was a long time ago. How up-to-date do you need it to be, technology-wise?
It doesn't need to be up-to-date at all; it's just storm structure. I've already got a few leads, but I'll let you know if I need more assistance.
I'm forwarding your query to a friend.

Is your website currently down? I just get an "unable to connect" error message.
(And never mind on the website question... it's back now! Or else it was something transient on my end!)
Website was just a glitch; all better now. And thank you!
quasigeostrophy comes to mind...
Also faxpaladin, a Texas filker and meteorologist.
Oh, cool, filking meteorologists!
I think I'm good for right now, but thank you!
janinas_nest is a meteorlogist who works for the National Weather Service...
Eeeeeeexcellent.
I have no idea what you're up to, but I'm sure it will be marvelous. I look forward to finding out later :-)
I'm hoping there are Swirling Clouds!

(My spouse and I noticed that, in anime, anytime there are swirling clouds, collateral destruction is usually close behind...)
I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.
Yay!

Excellent! Email has been sent. :)
Sounds exciting.

I can't provide any help but I wondered if you had ever made a tornado in a box?

Its great fun http://projectpotpourri.blogspot.com/2007/11/tornado-in-box.html is the best reference I can find on the web though I have also done something similar with smoke in an aquarium.

I'm very frustrated as I've been imprisoned in hospital for a few weeks without internet access so I haven't got your book yet. I shall send forth minions to procure it for me.
I have! I adore science.

I used a supercell storm in the novel that Sheila is reading now - Shades of Gray. Found the info by googling it. Here's a couple of good explanations with diagrams. I wanted my storm to cut out all land to space comms while I was bombarding asteroids at the planet and doing a HALO drop. :)

Awesome! Because my storm needs to do specific things, I'm sticking with my subject matter experts, but that sounds kick-ass.
