We're all mad here.

Last year, jimhines wrote a fantastic book called The Stepsister Scheme [Amazon]|[Mysterious Galaxy]. My mother really really loved it, thus proving that a) she has taste, and b) Jim is trying to woo her away from me. Hmmmph. But since we're both DAW authors, it's not like I could stay cranky for long.

Well, in just two weeks, the sequel to The Stepsister Scheme can finally be yours. The Mermaid's Madness [Amazon]|[Mysterious Galaxy] comes out October 6th, bringing you everything you loved about the first Princess adventure, and so much more!

Because it's almost Jim's book-day birthday, I thought he needed a pretty little dead ghoul to make the day even more exciting. Mel was surprisingly mellow about being turned into sushi, probably because the ocean is full of sharks, and she likes anything with more innate killing capacity than she possesses. I was a lot less mellow when I realized that I was going to need to hand-color all that fish netting. Oh, the things I do for love...

Happy book-day, Jim! Hooray for The Mermaid's Madness!

I like the details with the hair duplicating the fins.
My dear Mel always has the orange and green hair; the orange and green fins just seemed appropriate.
right down to the dorsal on the hair... it would also make a great tattoo.
Your tattoo artist would shoot you over the fishnet.
she is a relative, she doesnt need fishnets as an excuse.. grin.
Now that's timing - I just ordered Mermaid yesterday...
Ha! Awesome.
Ohhh - Pretty!
I ordered my copy well over a month ago and now chewing fingernails to the knuckle waiting for it.
Just in case you'd rather not wait - the Borders in Gurnee had 2 left tonight. Of course, since the shipment just came in this evening they weren't quite on the shelf yet ;)
It's awesome.

Agreed!
That is extremely cute. I am strongly tempted to send you my WiP for similar treatment. (I have an authentic dead girl character, as well as the ferret women.) I'm looking forward to Mermaid very much.
You have a WiP? When? (Dead girl character plus ferret women = double-good!)
It's not yet sold, though DAW have an option.
I wish it the best fortune, then...
The main questions when I'm doing a dead ghoul: 1) what kind of horrible murder weapons can I include? 2) How bloody can I be?

I'm about eight behind, but I rushed to meet Jim's release date.
Well, she's an embodiment of death, and she kills without being troubled by it...
I've just ordered both from Amazon UK (delay on the second, of course, because it isn't out yet).

OBTW, because I've just remembered a question for your FAQ:

How do you like to be referred to in reviews and comments on sites other than your journal?

I ask because I seem to remember way back that you were not all that happy with a review which used only your surname. Using your first name seems rather familiar in a review, and honorifics tend to imply marital status. By default I will just say "the author", but doing that too many times feels rather odd...
I don't mind "Seanan" or "McGuire." I was actually objecting to the fact that they used my surname in order to avoid gendering me. I am not a table.
I am full of admiration for this!
Awww, thanks!

If I ever do a signing at Mysterious Galaxy, I will do an accompanying dead girl.
That's awesome!
Thanks!
