The obligatory ROSEMARY AND RUE dead girl.

Maybe I'm silly—absolutely I'm silly, have you met me? Silly is a part of my religion—but I sort of feel like, if I'm going to do Dead Girls for the books of my friends, I ought to do one for my own book. Just so that Toby doesn't feel like she's being left out and, I don't know, come for me in the night.

Not that she won't be happy to do that anyway, given half a chance.

With Rosemary and Rue officially hitting shelves one week from today (and unofficially hitting shelves all over the planet as I speak), I'm a little tense, twitchy, and flipped-out, but I've mostly reached a state of mellow acceptance. I expect this to last, oh, about as long as anything else has in the past few weeks, but at least I'm getting work done during this little lull.

So here's our Mel, reminding you what's important for the weeks to come:

Thanks, everybody, for being a part of the pre-release madness. It's been awesome.

Just so that Toby doesn't feel like she's being left out and, I don't know, come for me in the night.reminds me of a quote from one of the Amazon reviews I saw yesterday...

"In less than the first 100 pages, October "Toby" Daye, a half-breed Daoine Sidhe and former street kid, is cursed twice, loses everything she holds dear, winds up in a job she hates and has an unpleasant encounter with the King of Cats. Frankly, if I were Toby and I met Seanan on the street, I would punch her."
To which I simply would point the reviewer at this promo comic. It has already been *established* that were Toby to meet Seanan on the street it Would Not End At All Well.

Mel is always so cute, and this time she is giving us what I can only describe as a koi look...
Dude, she will so totally end you for that joke.
Would you dead girl me? Pretty please?
I would be happy to, after I've had the chance to dig down to you in my TBR pile!

I had surprise email from Amazon today - my copy has shipped!!! :))
Aw, yay!
What an exciting time, it must feel great in a wierd way - have a fantastic release week :)
I got highly distracted by coming down with the plague. I'll do my best!
Oooh, pretty koi dress. *pets it*
Thank you. :)
That outfit is the bomb! I have visions of a certain Undine nodding approval, albeit, the stockings are not traditional, so that would merit some clucking of her tongue. Nonetheless, stunning.
Thank you.
Ooh, I want that dress.
Toby doesn't, so maybe you can work something out.
I'm going to hit Borders tonight and see if my local one has it in stock yet...
Yay!
I stopped in 2 book stores on the way home tonight.

No sighting in Penn Books (Penn Station, NY - LIRR level) :(

I had a few minutes, so I went upstairs the borders on ground level, just outside Madison Square Garden

1 copy in the Science Fiction Section and on the new in paperback section, a full stack (at least 6-8 copies) of Rosemary and Rue. (Back row, right under the books that have the cover facing out.) The stack was on the side facing the front door.
*happy squee*

Also, Scott has finished the book so now I can reread it. :D He liked it quite a bit, shorted his sleep last night to finish. :)
AWESOME.
I'm so excited for you!
Thank you!
Here, have a photo I took this evening just for you:

That would be the lovely Naomi Novik, just after receiving a copy of your book from Diana Fox.

It's a real book! Congratulations!
Oh, wow.

Thank you!
14 copies in the Borders in Oakbrook, IL. 4 in the F&SF section, face out; 10 on the rack of New Paperbacks, in two face-out stacks, on the side with the newer releases.

That's after my copy came off the stack. <clings to book like a clingy thing>
Wooooooooooooooooooow.
My local store stocked them yesterday; to my eternal shame, I had to work late. Today, however, I got there - they now have 9 copies left! I can't wait to curl up with Toby - literarily speaking, of course.

And Seanan - from the bottom of my heart, congrats!
Thank you so much.
I just got word from amazon.ca that my copy has been shipped. I'm looking forward to it. Their "estimated arrival date" is the 31st but I'd be a bit surprised if it didn't show up Friday (or possibly even Thursday).

stevemb & I picked up 2 copies last night at the Springfield, VA Borders.
Awesome.
I found the book in the New Orleans Borders - after I'd given up because the store computer said it wasn't in yet.
That's awesome.
