I have arrived safe and sound in Seattle, Washington, where my beloved vixyish collected me from the airport (with two bottles of Diet Dr Pepper in her hands, Great Pumpkin, I love that woman) and toted me back to the welcoming confines of the Agora, home of the better part of the zoo. There was chatter and cheer and hanging out with her, Tony, and Torrey before everyone went hieing themselves off to bed in their respective soft flat places, and many hours of darkness descended over everyone.
As I type this, I am, once again, the only person even remotely awake in my general vicinity; ah, the perils of being a morning person. I've got The Brightest Fell open in another window, and will sit on the downstairs sofa, contentedly plugging away, until it's time to go to the Farmer's Market and begin a whirlwind Seattle Saturday.
Hope your day looks to be as wonderful and filled with love and light as mine is, and if not, hope you at least get cake. Mmm, cake.
Okay - to totally bend both your brains (seanan_mcguire's and cleothyla's) I am requesting that, even though I have never met either one of you in person, you give each other ♥HUGS♥ from me!
I wish I had some way to get there/be invited even if I could get there/meet both of you if I could be invited and have some way to get there. *le sigh*
I got way too little sleep last night because I was up reading Rosemary and Rue until the wee hours. I know my comment won't be as witty as others but WOW - you sure can WRITE! (Which is to say I'm enjoying the story and characters immensely!)
Our day definitely looks to be wonderful. We're headed to a house concert tonight to see our favorite Blonde Bouzouki Babe, Beth Patterson. We'll spend the rest of the day until then riding the high from last night's Great Big Sea concert. 8-)
Oh, and I spotted four copies of Rosemary and Rue yesterday at the Borders in downtown DC.
Hi! I'm happily ensconced at my friend Marilyn's house with my Dad and Stepmom.
And my brand new copy of Rosemary and Rue.
For lo, I did hunt it down at the local Borders, and lo, it was there for the hunting. More copies than the nice salesguy I chatted up expected for a first novel, even given that we were looking at less than half of what the store carried. The rest were on the "nifty new paperback" shelf.
There was much bouncing. And the first 23 pages rock on toast. With butter and Marmite, which is my favorite way ever to eat toast.
Hope your day looks to be as wonderful and filled with love and light as mine is, and if not, hope you at least get cake.
No cake, but Saturday was definitely my Day of Seanan :) My Borders unpacked their boxes just for me, so finally got my hands on Toby Friday night.....didn't get to finish it until Saturday morning tho. Then I checked my mail. My DVD & CD from your Duckon show arrived! So the xaplings and I spent the next while (re)watching the concert.
Not quite as much fun as i'm sure your signing was, but since we're too many hours away it was pretty darn good :)
I sometimes refer to myself as a terminal morning person--one of these days, somebody's going to kill me because of it ;-). I know the feeling of being the only one awake. I do that a lot.
