Ten more days; almost there...

Yesterday's excitement (and the ongoing reports of Rosemary and Rue sightings everywhere from California to Scotland) aside, we're still ten days out from the official "this is when the book hits shelves" release date. Because the book doesn't have a fixed street date—I am not, my mother's enthusiastic ravings aside, Stephen King—it's perfectly okay for bookstores to be selling it now, if a little hard on my nerves.

Tonight, I fly to Seattle for the Grants Pass launch event (with cake!) and Vixy's birthday (also with cake!). A week from today, Amy arrives, and will be staying through to the end of the various book release parties, because she is a good and wise and wonderful Amy that way. Two weeks from today, I'll be at Illusive Arts Comics and Games in Santa Clara, celebrating my book release with the first of three local-area book events.

I am elated and terrified, which is very odd to experience. It's sort of like being at the top of that first big hill on a roller coaster. On the one hand, you stood in line for this, possibly for hours; you had plenty of time to say "no, you go ahead, I'm just going to go get myself a corn dog and laugh at your plight as you go off to play with physics." On the other hand, it's way too late to get off the ride now, and now's when you have second thoughts, such as "can I really make physics my bitch?" You'll have a wonderful time once you start to plummet. The psychological hang-time is still not all that much fun.

I've been trying to get to the point in my life and career where I could write this post for over a decade now. I've been standing in line for this moment for the last year and a half, since the day The Agent called me and said "We got DAW." But wow, am I going to scream when the falling starts. Ten more days.

Ten more days, and I know damn well and good that as soon as we reach the bottom, I'm just going to go and get back into line. Roller coasters rule.

Scotland? Wow. You get around, girl!

The lead car is already over the edge. You're just in the tail car...

Breathe. Screaming counts, just remember to inhale, too. :)

Seeya tomorrow.
are you stopping at all in Oregon? *sniffle*
Not this time. I'm flying back tonight, straight Seattle to San Francisco flights. Maybe next time!
\o/!!!
Hee!
Wish I could go to the Release Party but have Rustycon meeting to deal with. But I will see you at the Agora House Swarming (as sOOj put it).
And lo, a spectacular (if very, very loud) time was had by all.

Just so you know -- this kind of writing is exactly why I am looking forward to buying a copy of Rosemary and Rue in 10 days.
Yay. :) I really do hope you like it.
According to Amazon mine is supposed to arrive September 3. Seeing as that is the day after my birthday - I am considering it their present to me for all the money I spend there. ;)
Hooray! Also, happy birthday!
Safe travel tonight. I looked in NYC (Penn Station) yesterday for your book and unfortunately, no sighting yet. :(
I actually walked into Penn Books on the upper level. She's on the schedule as a regular DAW release. It should hit on her street date.

I wish I were there to ride the wonderful and terrifying roller coaster with you, but there's all this stupid geography in the way.

The current betting pool says that you will get your nervous twitching over with by September 13.

<3
Sadly, I can totally believe that there's a betting pool.
I stopped into a local Borders and found a copy! Wow, the Stephanie Meyers craze has caused LJ Smith to reprint all her books, and now the Young Adult section is all black and seductive in their high-gloss covers.

But more about Rosemary and Rue! I've read into the first and would have gone further if not for the dentist appointment, fillings and subsequent nap from the Novacaine.

Was it bad that I briefly contemplated canceling the appointment to read instead?

In my opinion, it's not bad that you considered canceling. Actually canceling would be cause for...something. Perhaps Miss Manners would have to snub you in public. I'm really not sure.

I <3 this post, and I can't wait to pick up a copy of your book! *\o/*
Yay!
Travel safe! I checked Borders last night as I was buying my 40% off DVD set and no R&R in sight... but there were a bunch of books missing right where yours would be located. Therefore, I choose to believe someone heard they might be out there and ran in to get all the available copies. ;)
This belief is relevant to my interests (and sanity).
Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!
When this ride is over, I'm going to eat corn dogs until I puke, and then do it again.

It was so good to see you. And you know you always have me when you want me.
So I suppose I shouldn't tell your mother that I got a stephen king book 2 weeks before it was supposed to be on the shelf once? (part of Green Mile if I remember correctly)
Actually, you shouldn't tell me that. I am now consumed by jealousy.
I pick up my preorder on Sunday. I have to wait because I'm out of town right now. I foresee little sleep Sunday night.

I hope this is the best coaster ever.
I really hope you love the book.
Funny you should mention roller coasters -- Steve & I are doing Hershey Park with some friends on Sunday. We'll try to find the bookstores along our flight path.

Hmmmmmmm -- "When we walked into B&N for Seannan's R & R...
Lots of people are having awesome coaster weekends. Rock on!
I have your book. In my hands. I cannot wait to start reading it!
Squeak!
I was in a bookstore yesterday, and asked if they had the book, in case they were one of the places with it already. No, September 1st, they said. You *are* getting it in, right? Oh yes, they said. So I told them I have a date to come back and see them on the 1st.
Yay!
Here it is, on the shelves at the Borders near my office in downtown Boston:
