Pictures of my cats. Because I can.

Being as I am currently in New York, while my cats remain at home in California, I miss them dearly. You know what that means. That's right.

Time for cat pictures.

This is Lilly -- short for Lillian Kane Moscowitz Munster Cavanaugh Sawyer McGuire. Note the long, elegant nose and suspicious expression. These are the hallmarks of the Siamese cat. The electric orange towel is perhaps a little less standard to the breed, but any cat that spends a lot of time sprawling on things in my room is going to wind up spending a lot of time on an orange background.

Lilly is a purebred bluepoint, and has a voice like a cranky buzzsaw ripping through a room full of college co-eds. I love her dearly, but if she hadn't learned to stop the midnight serenades, she wouldn't have lived as long as she has.

You can't really tell in this picture, but Lilly has no tail. It was lost in an accident when she was less than three days old. Her breeder gave me a discount for being willing to take a damaged kitten. Yes. My cat got remaindered.

Here's a closer-up shot. Behold that glorious bone structure! Truly, my cat is the pointest of all the pointy princesses.

This is about when Lilly started getting a little bit annoyed by the clicky box that made the big flashes. This is Lilly's 'what the fuck, Mom?' face. She makes it a lot, usually when I'm doing incomprehensible human things, like putting her off my lap so I can get some damn writing done already.

You can't really tell from this picture, but Lilly and I are having a very serious philosophical discussion which really boils down to 'I say she's not allowed to do something that she wants to do, she whines about it a great deal.' This is here largely to give an idea of the immense scope of my cat. Truly she is vast in her magnificence, and is made entirely of muscle and bone. Muscle and bone which often slams into my solar plexus at two o'clock in the morning.

This, meanwhile, is Nyssa. Nyssa is professionally ancient. This is a cat who has witnessed continental drift. She doesn't move much anymore, because she really doesn't need to do anything beyond sitting around and looking regal.

And those are my cats.

A Himalayan kitten also named for Lily Munster.

I thought the synchronicity would amuse.

Your Lily has big reflective eyes, which I love.
Iiiiiiiiiiieee the cute!
So, so cute. As expected. *grins*
They are good horrible kitties.
I love how Lily's eye reflection is a match for the orange blanket in several of those pictures :-)
It really delighted me, too.
Wow, she's huge. I always picture her as small, for some reason.
Lilly is vast. When I lie down to read, she'll stretch out with her chin resting on my collarbone and her legs dangling around my thighs.
Awwww... Nyssa!

And I love the fact that while you're admonishing Lilly, she's patting your face.
Quoth Lilly, "It's okay, Mommy. I don't mind that you're crazy..."

She's nineteen, and older than time itself. She moves along powered by pure and unyielding hate. Also, she quacks.

My room is orange with green trim. There'll be pictures of that, too, given a bit more time.

AWWW!

I am so in love with Nyssa.
She's a good girl, and she's grown old gracefully.

Mozart here is also professionally ancient, having passed 18 years old a few months back.
Pretty orange and green kitty-cat! Yay for old kitties.

Your cats are gorgeous! I love kitties. I've got a little boy named, Loki. He's the cutie on my icon. He hates the camera and usually runs away when I try to snap shots.

I love your cat's names, too. :D

Enjoy New York!
Aw, look at Loki's wide-open eyes - he looks so alert! Unlike my Manny who's dozing most of the time, except for his manic sessions checking out the windows and doors beyond. Nighttime guardcat is a panicky job ;-)

Have a lovely day! :-)

Yeah, she's probably wondering how she got orange eyes in her photos - probably thinks you PhotoShopped them ;-)

You so need to hold a caption contest for your Philosophical Conversation photo. I can't think of anything, but it just begs for a caption :-)

Sitting around and looking regal? Nyssa's living the high life - yay for her :-)

Thanks for sharing, and have a lovely day! :-)
Sadly, I didn't Photoshop them -- Siamese have super-reflective eyes due to light retinal pigmentation, and so they just GLOW when you hit them with a camera. Lil probably just wonders why she's not allowed to be on my shoulder or in my chair ALL the time.

Nyssa's having a good dotage. She's hit that stage of 'old' where we expect her to go any time, but she's reasonably comfortable, and so we don't push it.
EEEEEEEE!

Teh kyoot, it slays me!

Thank you :)
Yay for death by cute!
They're *adorable*.
Thank you!
Thank you for posting the fuzzy children photos. Even though intellectually I know that Lilly is a full grown cat, in a stubborn part of my brain she will forever be the tiny little kitten bouncing around your hotel room and responding to her own reflection in the full length mirror. She has grown into a beautiful animal, and it is nice to have an idea of what Nyssa looks like as well.

Vicky, my lilac tabbypoint, has the most varied vocal abilities of any Siamese I have ever met, and my parents were breeders so I've met a lot of Siamese. Honestly, I think he is either trying to emulate human speech or correct my pussycat accent. It could go either way. Vicky and I have much longer conversations than Patrick and I, for reasons that ought to be apparent to anyone.

My friend Dawn has convinced me that in a previous life Patrick was the cat and Vicky was the husband, which explains so very much. Patrick agrees with this assessment. Indeed, as he shifts Vicky away from his pillow most nights when he joins us in bed he reminds Vicky gently but firmly that this time around, the big fluffy pillow at the head of the bed is his. Vicky takes it poorly.
She really did grow up lovely. I adore my cats.

Poor Vicky, totally oppressed by an uncaring husband...
Love the orange eyes to coordinate with the orange blanket!
