Okay. Advise me.

I have a few more ARCs to give away, and I'm stumped. So how should I give them away? (Hint: saying "give them to me" will actually not endear you, unless you finish that sentence with "I do all the buying for a major bookstore" or something similar, and can present credentials.) Have you got a favorite review site? Have I missed a contest? Should I abandon them on BART cars? What?

Propose anything. I am open to the crazy.

EDIT: So it's said, the "abandon on BART cars" option was a joke. I won't do anything that involves releasing ARCs into the wild, outside the bounds of the standard social contract, with no idea where they went. Not okay.

Send some to overseas publications that do book reviews?

Failing that, send them to friends in cities that have major anchor stores for the chains that are carrying your books to get a jump start on the "employee's choice" featured book queue at said chains?
I can't afford to eat the postage right now (re: overseas publications), but good point on the major anchor stores. I'll hop on that one with great good cheer.
Excellent! Blame marapfhile, he gave me the seed of the idea with suggesting that he was going to see if his mother would recommend it at her bookstore (after it comes out).
A librarian I admire, who does so much amazing, creative work in the field, does a book blog, and she's feeling a little burnt on paranormal fiction. I think Rosemary and Rue would give her some hope for the genre.

Her name is Jenna, she's the curator of the Zine Library at Barnard and you can find her at http://jenna.openflows.com/
Ask her if she'd like me to send her one. If she would, have her send me her mailing address. :)
I'll try to catch her on AIM tomorrow! Thanks for considering her.
Illustrate one (maybe with little chibi cartoons?) at the end of chapters (appropriate to the chapters) and then auction it off to benefit some charity? (This has multiple advantages, including deep collectability that goes way beyond ARC status. Plus it just sounds cool, but I'm easily amused. It's probably more work than it's worth, but in case it's not....)
If I have one left over when we're done with the final push, that sounds like a disturbing amount of scary fun.
Oh good. Now I'll just quietly hope. 'Cause that I'd pay for.
1) If you're a comics buyer, you could sign them and leave them for trade at your LCS.

2) Bookcrossing.com http://www.bookcrossing.com/

3) Join book swap groups. Give them away to interesting parties in return for books you would like to read. Most swap groups are media swap groups, so you could get CDs, DVDs and other stuff as well as books.
Swapping my ARCs for things I wanted would feel too much like selling them, which is explicitly forbidden. But thank you for the thought!
If Anna doesn't already have one, you should give her one to say, "Thanks for hosting this kick-ass book release party."
Oh, she got hers months ago. With a nice card to go with it.
Late suggestion is late, but how about a contest to describe the Toby books in under fifty or so words?
It could be in any form, an actual description, a drabble, a poem, etc.
And that way the entries aren't monstrously long!

*Is not suggesting this because she already has an idea, no sirree*
