Ten good things about today.

10. I will be on a plane for San Diego in a little over twenty-four hours, on my way to the San Diego International Comic Convention. The SDCC is one of my favorite conventions, because it is, for all the chaos, really remarkably relaxing. I go, I smile, I speak, I shop. And shop, and shop, and oh, yes, shop. I love flea markets, and the SDCC dealer's hall is like the world's best combination of "the comic book store" and "the indoor flea market." Only this flea market has an artist's alley. Life is good.

9. As part of my preparation for San Diego, I took my mother for a pedicure last night. (There's logic here, I swear. The logic is largely "I didn't want to walk home after getting my nails done.") Neither of us is much of a pedicure girl, but sometimes it's nice to just let somebody attack your heels with a pumice stone. Besides, I have super-cute shoes for the parties in San Diego—kitten-heeled green Italian leather—and they require having super-cute toenails to go with them.

8. Alice woke me up five minutes before my alarm by kneading the hell out of my hip, and then throwing herself down across me like a fuzzy blue blanket possessed of most imposing puffiness. This was far, far more pleasant than being woken by the actual alarm could possibly have been, and made hauling my carcass out of bed much easier. After the Blue Team decided to let me get up, that is. Between the two of them, I really don't get to do much that my cats don't approve of.

7. Next up in my reread of the collected works of Stephen King: The Stand. This is one of my five favorite books of all time. Just having it in my purse makes me happy. (Not as happy as IT, which is why IT is slated for rereading at the end of August/beginning of September, but surprisingly close.)

6. According to this week's new releases list, the next volume of the collected hardcover Creepy comes out tomorrow. (Ironically, I won't be able to pick it up until next week, since, well, San Diego, but just knowing that it's on the trucks makes me happy.) These books are basically my childhood in handy, easy-to-shelve form, and their very existence enhances the universe incredibly. I am a happy girl.

5. Rosemary and Rue comes out in forty-one days. Forty-one is the thirteenth smallest prime number. (The next is forty-three, with which it comprises a twin prime.) It is also the sum of the first six prime numbers (2 + 3 + 5 + 7 + 11 + 13), and the sum of three primes (11 + 13 + 17). I love forty-one for being prime, and I love Wikipedia for knowing all this crap.

4. I have a hula hoop! And when I get home tonight, I get to use my hula hoop! I get to stand in the front yard and hula like I've never hula'd before. Well, actually, just like I hula'd last night, only maybe a little bit better, because I've had more practice. I can't take my hula hoop to San Diego, so I have to get my hula in now, while I still can.

3. Rebecca has BPAL waiting for me in San Diego. Specifically, Rebecca has a fresh bottle of Bad Luck Woman Blues (basically my signature aromatherapy calm down Seanan, you can't unleash the pandemic perfume) and a bottle of the new Zombie Apocalypse scent. I am a lucky girl.

2. I have season one of Leverage on DVD. Tonight, I will sit on my couch, ink art cards, and watch con men, thieves, and grifters as they do their con man, thief, and grifter things, and my cats will purr, and the DDP will be cold, and the tomato sandwiches will be incredibly drippy and get all over the damn place, probably causing at least one incident with my art supplies, and life will be good.

...and finally...

1. I am healthy, I have a cute haircut, I have orange toenails, I have a book coming out in less than a month and a half, I have wonderful friends, I have beautiful cats, and I'm about to take off for the world's biggest comic book convention. Life doesn't suck.

How's by you?

Mmm, Leverage on DVD. I should get that.

I find Comic-Con to be the least relaxing vacation ever! But that is how I roll. Let me know if you find anything awesome in the flea market that I should check out! Although I think most of my cash will be reserved for half-price trades. And other things.
Leverage on DVD makes me profoundly happy. Also, Comic-Con is relaxing for me partially because I really do find huge crowds and jam-packed flea markets to be like balm for my wounded soul.

Hmm, don't really have anything that matches your good things, but I'm alive, I have friends and ferrets and kitties, and while I'm stressed, it will go away eventually.

Oh yeah, and this book is coming out in Sept that I want to read ;)
Hooray!
I have danish pastries. I leave for Comic Con tomorrow afternoon myself. On my iphone is two shoes I haven't seen yet. I will be putting anything I am not caught up with on it tomorrow (potentially True Blood and Eureka). New books should be waiting for me at the bookstore tomorrow, and I have the entire evening to pack, and there is homemade spagetti sauce waiting for me at home tonight. Life is of the very good right now.

Life really doesn't suck at the moment.

Have you tried Hellhound on My Trail (Bpal) or Ho Ho Ho (Bpal)?
You absolutely want to come to the Saturday night event. Trust me. You will be the envy of your friends. It will be utterly worth it.

I have both of those! They make me happy. Have you tried Teenage Zombie Cannibal?

The Stand is my favorite book of all time. Okay, *one* of my favorite books of all time. :-)

My husband laughs that books are my security blanket. I have them stashed in the car, in my purse, etc. Without one, I get twitchy.
I am right there with you.
Shows even. Having shoes on my iphone would save me packign space.
Wouldn't that be awesome? I want data-compression for my clothes.

I am having a sucky morning, but your list made me smile!

I do have coffee. That is something.
Hooray for coffee!
Thanks for reminding me! I ordered another bottle of Eat Me, my all-time favorite, and one of Kuang Shi, because yummy scents + Chinese zombies = awesome.
I think it's good to have a few extra bottles of your favorites. Just in case.
I have uploaded photos from the weekend, including Swimming lesson #2 and very cute puppy.

I am moving forward on several projects, including the coat for the niece, which I have promised myself I would make for the past two years.

I have a very intelligent, happy boy who is healthy and curious.

So far, so good!
Awesome!

Yes! This! Though I usually include Anne McCaffrey in my security blanket reading.

Annual review went well with my manager this morning. He wants me to start taking internal management courses. He's thinking of easing me into being a lead editor in time (meep). Everyone is happy with the work I do, which is cool.
Woo-hoo! Go awesome team you!
I have a fence and progress on the house! And I have travel plans & tickets so I'm looking forward to seeing friends! :)
How fantastic!
I just found a local "drink good beer and talk about medieval literature" bookclub. Dude. They are on hiatus till August, but I can wait that long. Should be all kinds of awesome.
Oh, that's so cool! I'm really thrilled for you.
My cranky old boss just left for a week. It will be MUCH easier to start getting things prepped for our office move without him around complaining about things like the typefaces on the file folder labels. He spent a week proudly designing the layout for our new space - except that he had his primary measurements wrong and also he was more worried about where his collection of posters would fit and less about things like whether the staff will have silly little things like phones and computer access. This will really be much easier to do with him not here.
Woo-hoo!
What's going on in my life? All this. :D

And now, more applications, because I don't think I can wait any longer for a response from that company. I realize they're probably still interviewing, but... I guess I'm spreading my eggs out. Whee!
Go spreading of the eggs go!
Ooh, I love Bpal - blood kiss specifically. I took a load of bpal imps to my Mum today to lure her into their fragrances. Also woken by my cat today who weighs about 16 pounds and likes to perch on my shoulder and stick her paw in my ear - I never set the alarm :)
I think the thing I love best about BPAL is how individual it is. I have three bottles of my one true Limited Edition, because it's not that important to much of anyone else. I love scents others loathe, and vice-versa. It's brilliant.

Other than being increasingly convinced that you sold MY soul at the crossroads while you were at it? I'm good.
On the plus side, you're getting Feed out of the deal.

BPAL! I'm right there with you on the love there.
Someday there will be Toby scents. Oh, yes.
I edited 5 scenes yesterday and 1 today, which turned the "last corner" on the narrative. I also finished writing a scene for another project.

Also, Hobbes waited for me to at least start moving before she jumped on my head and started demanding breakfast.
WOO-HOO!

A winner is you.
Not bad here. Productive morning... less productive afternoon. Hoping I can fix the evening. :)
Rock on.
Yay healthy! Yay book! Yay kitty what smells like punkin' and didn't go all 'splody when she realized she was in WATER!

Me? We will pass like ships in the night; I will catch a plane tomorrow myself at oh-goddess-ugly to the City of Angels, and then I presume you will catch your plane at a somewhat more sane hour and hopscotch over me to Sandy Eggo... and then I'll turn right around and go back so I can be home for TRICKY PIXIE! And there shall be much zen and the art of motorcycles, and then on Saturday there shall be Barbecue (which is orange!) and KITTTEN SUNDAE! which will doubtless contain at least one Seanan song...

But, yes, happy, healthy, loads of good friends both two-wheeled and not, musical and not, but it's *all* magic...

*rereads* oh, damn. Tomato sandwiches. I haven't had those in a LONG time. Happy memory. Thank you!
