"Charlaine Harris plugged this book to a crowd of 500+ people at her signing in Oak Brook, IL this past Monday. She was asked what she was reading and she said she was enjoying this ARC immensely. Scores of people around me were scrambling to write down the name..."
This sort of made my jaw hit the floor, because, um, well, HOLY CATS. And being me, I went looking for any other information about this particular event.
What I found was Charlaine's blog. Specifically, her current books entry. Specifically...
"One of the DAW editors sent me an ARC of Seanan McGuire’s first book. It's a winner."
...and...
"I think any of my readers will enjoy this book, and surely any of Patricia Briggs' readers will, too."
I think my head is going to explode.

I didn't realize quite what "New York Times Bestselling Author" *meant* until I tracked SFF books and the NYTimes bestseller lists and Amazon bestseller lists for multiple months. (A paper idea that petered out after a while.) And I noticed that Jim Butcher and Naomi Novik, two authors that I love and that I know have a big following and are making a good living off of writing, either never made it on the lists (Novik) or shot on and fell off really freaking fast (Butcher.) But when TrueBlood came out, Harris's books shot onto the top ranks of both lists and stayed there, for at least two months, IIRC. Her audience is ginormous, and especially in a format that's as face-to-face as a book signing, they'll remember that.
Could she do a cover quote for your book, maybe?
Go you!
