When will you rise?

It is my considerable pleasure, absolute delight, and no small amount of awed bafflement, to announce that the Mason trilogy has been sold in a three book deal to Orbit, with concurrent publication by Orbit UK. They will be published beginning in 2010, with Feed (working title: Newsflesh) coming out sometime mid-year. All three books will be published under the name "Mira Grant," my shiny new open pseudonym. I have a pseudonym and a horror series. You have absolutely no concept of how much this makes me feel like Stephen King right now.

We sold the Mason books. Alive or dead, the truth won't rest.

Rise up while you can.

(PS: Please don't ask "why the title change" or "why the pseudonym" on this post. I'll post explaining both when I get over sitting here looking stunned and giggling to myself.)

Congratulations!

Since I'm kinda new here, would I annoy you if I asked what these books are -- aside from horror, of course?

The Mason books are about Georgia and Shaun Mason (and their compatriots), intrepid bloggers in a post-zombie apocalyptic world where bloggers are the new journalists. They're asked to cover the presidential campaign, and then there are shenanigans, and lots of people die. Also, lots of people are already dead, and they make lots of people die what with the eating of their brains and whatnot.

(I forget whether there is genuine brain-eating, actually. The zombie stuff is very meticulously researched and constructed and doesn't necessarily conform to stereotypes.)

It's like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies without the pride or prejudice! (Actually, it's nothing like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies except that it has zombies. Also, it has pride and prejudice; I lied.)
