Oh, those wicked girls, how they fly...

I was just on YouTube (I admit, watching videos from the current season of So You Think You Can Dance, because I am a weak blonde in some ways), and did the fairly random "let's see if any of my key words pops up on this site." And, well, some of my words did.

So here is the video recording of "Wicked Girls," as performed at DucKon 2009 (this particular performance will also be on the official DVD being released by the convention, although probably not this specific video). Featuring SJ Tucker on the djembe and backing vocals infinitely more amazing than I realized until I watched the playback; Vixy on lead vocals; me on lead vocals (I'm the blonde one in the middle); Tony Fabris on guitar; and Amy McNally on the invisible violin, as she is totally blocked by Tony. There's some clipping, especially on the louder parts of the song, but overall, I'm stunned by how well it went.

See:

This specific stream's version of "Still Catch the Tide" (by Talis Kimberley) is also gorgeous.

wow! Looks like you had a good concert @ Duckon. I am sorry I was not able to attend it. :(
On the plus side, you can buy it and support filk at DucKon at the same time!
Wonderful performance. I'm sorry I couldn't be there.

I'm glad you mentioned that Amy is behind Tony. At first glance, it looked like he was wearing a skirt, which seemed somehow out of character. :)

So who do you like on SYTYCD? I love watching anything that Randy and Evan dance. (I thought of you when Caitlin did her raptor impression.)
I love Randi and Evan SO HARD OMG. Kate and I want Evan to be offered via catalog. We were sad when he didn't make the show last season, but clearly it was just so he could have a button-cute old-style blonde to play with.

I'm also a huge fan of Caitlin's, although if I did the raptor that well, Kate would turn the hose on me.

SJ has an awesome outfit. I like the bow in her hair.
She has bad-ass hair, it's true.

Amy's not totally invisible from this angle (or at least her clothes aren't)--she's the reason Tony looks like he's wearing a long black skirt!

Gosh, modern technology is amazing. (-:
I was perplexed at first. I could hear her, but I couldn't find her...
*sighs happily* Oh, to have been there!
It was fab.
Between you posting things like this and all of the cool/wonderful/amazing music I listen to on filk.com, I am gnashing my teeth more than ever at my inability, at this point in time, to purchase my very own copies of such songs so I can infectshow people what amazing talent lurks in fandom. Besides the writing, costuming, organizing abilities, and golden touch with most, if not all, things geeky talents.
One day, you'll be able to!
The house mix straight from the board (which will be the official CD release) sounds really good (I just finished mastering it today). I haven't seen any of Art's DVD recordings yet.

I am acquiring more sound/recording equipment (Angela is not real happy - "What are you buying now?") to make future live recordings even better, so next year's DucKon should be a blast.
"I am acquiring more sound/recording equipment"

I've heard that song before *g*...

Yes, I assume that the one on the video is the camera mic, I expect the desk mix is quite a bit better (as probably was the sound in the room).

Oh, my word. Wonderful stuff.

Also, I think I'd better dust off 'Still Catch the Tide' and sing it myself one of these days, hey? But it sounds soooooo good with you guys!
That would make me very, very happy. I love hearing you sing that song. The guide version you sent me when I asked permission to cover it makes me happy every time it comes up in my random MP3 shuffle.

(Actually, as I'm sure you know, I've got a little list, and when I make a million dollars, I shall throw a convention just for purposes of making you come do a house concert and sing everything I love.)
Pretty awesome, lady.
Thank you!
I've been thinking about when the right time to introduce my older daughter to this song is. She's going very femme, and I expect her to stay that way, and I want her to have a lot of exposure to *strong* femmes, so this is definitely in her future.

I can't count the number of times I've told her "a real princess saves herself" in the last month - thank you *so* much for that line.
My four year-old can sing the whole song. Of course she's in the bridge in one recorded version of it, so she thinks it's her song.

I simply have to start going to DucKon. (Quite probably next year!) Great song, great performance.
Thank you so much.
I found it a couple of days ago, and have watched it about ten times now. I'm glad I bought the DVD as well as the CD. I've listened to it enough that I can now hear the melody to the new verses you wrote in my head :-)

Also, have to tell you--I love the line you wrote for Amy in the bridge. Totally awesome.
I really like adding new bridge pieces every time we perform the song. I find it soothing.

I'm so glad you could be there!
One of my fondest memories of 2008's nanowrimo was a heap of us huddled around someone's laptop listening to you sing. :P
...that makes my life better.

That is fabulous! Thanks so much for sharing!

I'm here via catvalente.
Thank you for coming by! Glee.
I can not wait to see you at Marcon next year. The emotion from the video was enough to make me giddy. I may have to buy the video....
I need to arrange for stunt guitarists at MarCon. Heavens know what my set list will look like...

Thank you so much for the link, it was fun to see and listen to a 'live' version of this song.

Also I have to comment that everyone else has water at their feet and you have DDP. It's good to know that the universe has some constants.
Y'know, I hadn't even noticed that? But indeed, we are all so very much ourselves sometimes.
oh so so pretty harmonies for an awesome song. Thanks for linking :)
Totally welcome.
*is crying now* O:>
Awww, yay.
